i found out how to get my HP printer to let me scan a photo print as a jpeg (.jpg) instead of as a document. i was selling items here and would scan but it would only put them in as (download). that irritated me.
finally found out-go into Windows live photo gallery (if you have Windows 7) and click File, then import from camera or scanner. then click import. then scan.
or with Paint-click from scanner or camera, click scan...
i changed my size down from the 200 kb it saves photos as and here it is.

NICE tree - do you think they have preventative measures set up so that tree doesn't (or lowers the risk of) get hit by lightning?

Ha! I doubt it. they have some branches held together with metal whinches or what ever they are. didn't spot a lightening rod anywhere. but the tree is at least 160 yrs old, so who knows?

I no longer have a scanner but found another way to convert photo prints to jpegs. Take a picture of it with a digital camera! You can't use flash because it will cause a glare so get where there is some good natural light but not bright sunlight. I've been doing this with all my childhood photos....love the black and whites.
