Sewing head scarves for mom's chemo time
On Valentine's Day, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been such a busy time that I forgot, until she called me today to let me know that her hair was starting to fall out, that I wanted to make her some scarves. I have tried to look up free patterns on the net, but can't seem to get anywhere with it. Does anyone know of any free patterns out there?
I have told her to call the local cancer center tomorrow (she lives 1500 miles from me) to get one for now. I would love to make her some so I can make them personal with the fabrics that she likes when she quilts. TIA, Natalie |

I am a 14 year breast cancer survivor!!!! Your mother can be one too!!! In the chemo room where I took my chemo, they had a basket up front on the desk with lots of scarves, hats, etc. Also, there was an American Cancer Society office in the lobby of the big medical building and they had lots of them - all for free, of course. If you do make some, please make them in bright, cheery prints/colors. HTH

I got my patterns from the cancer society.

When my mom had her chemo they had all kinds of hats, scarves and wigs there at the office. Everything was free as well.

can someone tell me how to save topics with the new board? I'd love to save these chemo cap links without doing a copy and paste thing to my word processor.

I did the look good feel better program for years. we had a head scarf that we made and gave out. Our church made some too. The ladies really liked them. If you give me you address I will send you one. They are easy to make patterns from. Also keep your shoulder pads to use under the scarfs they make it look more like there is hair under there. Go to yard sales and flea markets and get old wigs. Cut a few sections out and attach to the front looks like you have bangs. even put some on sides and the back. makes them feel like they are just wearing a scarf over their hair. Sorry about your mom. I lost mine to cancer over 50 years ago.
