Sewing Machine Rentals?

I know I'm not on very much, but due to school and studying, it's near impossible to get on half the time. I am currently in Robina, Australia till December, and I've been itching to sew. Does anyone know if I can find some place that would let me rent a machine for inexpensive or if I can buy one some where that's inexpensive?

Thank you!!!!

Check with a local fabric store, they may have a machine on the floor they would let you rent.

I think I might try that... Thank you! :D

Maybe you could look for an inexpensive machine at a second-hand store. Take fabric and thread with you when shopping so you can try it out before buying.

I'd have to find one and I'm not exactly sure where things are. I found one fabric store, so I'm going to check out tomorrow.

Perhaps there's a local store with classroom space that would allow you to spend the day sewing on their machine when they aren't doing a class. In my shop we allowed this occasionally and I did it in the LQS here in VA when I was visiting from TX.

If you don't have many of your own projects, maybe you could offer to make a sample quilt top for them as return favor. Or, maybe they even know someone who'd be willing to rent a machine to you; there are quilters allover the world who collect more machines than they can ever hope to use!

That's an idea. Thank you!

I was going to go to this one fabric store I found, but unfortunately they were closed.

i also run in to that when i'm working. i ended up buying an very inexpensive refurbished machine from a sewing machine store. Worked so well, I shipped it home from Hawaii and gave it to a daughter. I had also checked out Craigslist, though i don't know if that extends to Australia.

They have craigslist here, I'll check on there too.
