A radio station in my area used to do "simple pleasures" once a week. The DJ and weather/news people would say their simple pleasure and callers could call in with theirs. It was fun and inspirational. Let's do it. Maybe one non-quilting related and one quilting related. I'll start ~

1. smelling honeysuckle (10 - 12 times) while riding motorcycle last night

2. looking at all the wonderful creative quilts on this quiltboard

jojosnana 05-27-2011 01:31 PM

Smelling dinner when you come in from the garden and open the crock pot.....yum.
Smelling the baby when they come out of the bath....

The smell of a baby.

The feeling when learning a new quilting technique.

kathyd 05-27-2011 01:52 PM

opening the windows in the spring to hear all the "nature" noise

sitting on the deck chatting with DH

having DH call just to say "I love you" (the best one)

sometimes seeing the full moon set in the west when I go to work on a winter morning (did you know it goes down and looks as big as it does when it rises!)

isnthatodd 05-27-2011 01:53 PM

An ice cold Dr. Pepper on a hot, muggy day.

babyfireo4 05-27-2011 01:57 PM

The feeling when your child gives you a random hug followed by I Love You.

Picking out the perfect fabric for a patter you fell in love with!

needles3thread 05-27-2011 02:03 PM

Getting a surprise gift.

Hugs.

Just watching our cats play together. They were all rescued at different times so it's amazing how well they get along.

In describing myself I always say.... simple minds...simple pleasures.

Jan in VA 05-27-2011 02:39 PM

Taking my bra off and going barefoot in the house.

The kitties running to greet me like puppy dogs when I drive in.

An afternoon nap with a good book.

Locating the wild raspberries on the side of the road when they are blooming in the spring and keeping an eye on them as they ripen so I can go back and pick to my heart's content.

Seeing nearly every tree on the mountains on a clear, dry day.

Watching the new calves cavorting and playing chase and "king-of-the-hill' in the far rolling pasture.

A summer supper of all veggies from the garden.

Receiving a big wedge of lemon in my restaurant tea instead of a skinny slice.

My simple pleasures are:

Holding my grandson and rocking him to sleep and then just holding him close
.
Hearing the sweet voice of my granddaughter chatter non-stop.

A hug and kiss from my DD's.

An "I love you" from hubby.

When my cats sits in my arms and lays her head on my arm like a baby.

Feeling very lucky when I look at my fabric stash.

Being happy and wanting what I have.

craftiladi 05-27-2011 03:37 PM

Ramona Byrd 05-27-2011 04:53 PM

The laughter of a happy child.

The look of contentment on a baby's face as he finally closes his eyes and snuggles against my shoulder in sleep.

Barbm 05-27-2011 05:10 PM

turning into the drive and knowing I'm "home"

little voices calling me Grammie

(and many of you may not identify with this one) being able to make payroll every 2 weeks for myself and 2 staff. Times are hard in real estate and I run a small small title co. and so every time payroll comes up I say my prayers as we hold our own.

I am very blessed with a healthy family and a nice property to play in the dirt and a pretty house and lots of fabric stash so I appreciate the simple pleasures as they are the big things!

Great-great granny 05-27-2011 05:59 PM

My daily walks along the beach.
Coming "home" with home being wherever my family is.

Vickymomof6 05-27-2011 06:38 PM

Hearing one of your children giggle.

Holding a new grandchild for the first time.

Touching my husbands hand to let him know I'm here and I love him.

The smell of watermelon and that first bite... yum.

The cat sitting on my lap, purring.

Hearing music played by my children.

Seeing a hummingbird dart to the feeder.

I could go on and on, life is just so wonderful if you really think of it and take time to thank the Lord for the simple things. Thank you for starting this post. I needed this today.

The warmth of the sun on my face

Watching the sunrise and the sunset everyday. No two are the same.
