I am going to the beach with my sister, my niece, a four-yr
old, a one-year old, and an 88-yr old. Been looking forward to this since last year when we went last year. We've bought the food, I've done the laundry and packed my suitcase, paid the bills, had my hair cut and a pedicure. I'm ready to rock and roll. But...I decided it was time to clear out my hotmail account and I have over 5000 e-mails! This is taking forever. Why didn't I just do it daily, huh? Is there such a thing as an e-mail hoarder? Scheesh...

I have done that but not quite that many. I would think that anything older than 3 months you should just blow away without consideration. Sort by date and just delete them.

They'll wait until you get back from the beach. The last time I cleaned out my email it was around 50,000. <shrug>

I just checked my delete folder.......

10, 471 messages.....Lol

lyndad 06-24-2011 06:24 AM

I read & delete mine daily, I guess it's a habit I developed from work. 90% of mine are junk anyway.

ptquilts 06-24-2011 06:31 AM

I get rid of them as fast as I can, but I know people who save EVERY SINGLE ONE.

NancyG 06-24-2011 06:53 AM

I read and delete......easier and neater than having them pile up.

gosh...i get worried if I have 50 in there

raedar63 06-24-2011 07:33 AM

Pay attention to your sent items box too. I got rid of mine last night. Also, this is a pain in the rump. I had a problem opening my email on my computer so I went directly to my server and downloaded my emails. It downloaded EVERY EMAIL FOR about a year. You can only delete 50 at a time. It took me days to get rid of them. Even if I had already opened and deleted them, they came up. Good old embarqmail.com. LOL

Missed a couple important emails in the past to learn that I need to check emails daily. My page shows 50 emails. If it goes to the 2nd page, I delete, delete delete or send them to a labeled file to read later. I empty 'trash' often. Learned from previous employer to never let emails build up or save anything unnecessary. Computers slowed down and froze up enough that they made it a corporate policy to check emails regularly and get rid of the junk.

I read & delete daily & put ones I want to keep in organized folders. Also clean out deleted folder daily. I'm a retired librarian & learned to not keep something you will not need again - makes it easier to find something you want to revisit.

Same here. I empty the trash as soon as I delete.

I try to go through 50 at a time and delete the ones I could care less about. I also try not to go over a few days without checking and deleting. Since I started quilting and get lots and lots of quilt related emails, that pretty much fills up my inbox... Have to delete some and can't save them all!

BellaBoo 06-24-2011 09:29 AM

I just hit delete on all in my throw away account. My account for family if not replied to they call me. LOL. I read my email when I want and don't make it a have to thing. I don't mind deleting all if it at once without ever seeing what it is.

nyelphaba 06-24-2011 09:37 AM

I read and delete twice a day. I only keep the e-mails from my children.
