It has come to my attention that whenever I have to figure out a problem with my quilting.....come to this site. The people here (men and women) seem to always have an answer. My question: Has anyone found a good "sewing" use for those socks that lost or outlived their partner? I must have hundreds of single socks, all fabrics, all colors, all shapes. I keep sacking them up and "hoarding them away" in a cupboard. I could sure use that cupboard for other things. Got any ideas?

Sock monkeys or other sock animals. Sock puppets, use them for polishing furniture.

Or fill them with beans and sew the end up and make bean bags for a bean bag toss game.

Found a site: www.themismatchedsock.com. Looks like it may be a charitable organization starting up January lst. Will be looking into it.

I have dusted and polished furniture with them but then they end up back in the wash. Maybe I should go the Punky Brewster way and wear them mismatched?

I would like to know where the mate goes. I think there are sock abductors that come in the middle of the night and take them. I am also curious to hear what to do with them.

A lot of mine go in the garbage: darling hubby. He will actually dust with one and then toss it into the garbage thereby leaving an orphan.

If they are white, they make snowmen, just put about a cup of rice in the bottom, add fiberfill, gather, and put in fiberfill, gather, put in smaller fiberfill, gather at the top or add a cap. embroider features, and voila, Snowman

They are great for cleaning glass.

My husband has a few one of a kind socks..lol

He has to wear one of those compression socks so those odd ones come in handy.
