Somewhat quilting related: sewing machine innards in motion
 

I just stumbled upon this beautifully simple animated picture of how a sewing machine creates a stitch in fabric. I had a fairly clear notion of how this happens, but enjoyed seeing it in action. This is the best animation I have seen. And to think our sewing machines do it so quickly. They are really engineering marvels. The TV show "The Secret Life of..." did a show on sewing machines and demonstrated how a machine works by using people as the machine parts. I think I saw it on a youtube video. Try searching youtube for "The Secret Life of a Sewing Machine".
