I hear owls at night all the time, but having lived here since 2001, this is the first time I have actually seen one out and about!!
I was so excited, just had to go out and take it's picture. It heard me taking the pictures, and turned it's head and looked right at us. Is this cool or what?

And looked right at us!

LOL, I have as much idea how to do that as I do how to build a spaceship!! I surely am amazed by what others do with that tho.

What a wonderful idea. I think owls are so cool. One winter when we lived in Michigan, we saw a beautiful baby snow owl. Here in Florida we hear them a lot.

You might be thrilled with the result if you research it and give it a try. It is easy to get the photo onto fabric with the right software and the inkjet transfer kits. I use Print Artist software and Avery T-Shirt Transfers. I buy the transfers at WM because they are so much cheaper there than at Jo Ann.

He is so beautiful. We have a woods behind our house and I have heard a big one several nights in a row but have not seen him yet. How precious to actually see one in your front yard. Thank you for posting the pics!

Wonderful pictures. They hide so well in the tree I have only seen mine one time and that was in flight.

Sapphire_Rae 02-05-2011 04:06 PM

I love owls too. They are hard to spot though. I'm keeping my chihuahua in the house for awhile....

That is so cool! Every once in a while we will hear one or two at night. We haven't heard them in a while. I like to hear them though.

Ohh, I misunderstood you! I thought you meant making one of those where they take the photo and reproduce it from fabric like the portraits. The other I might could manage. Smiles

Oh how exciting ... the picture is wonderful. What fun to see an owl in the wild. You are very lucky to see it.

I have a strange owl story. About 15 yrs. ago, in CO, my middle daughter had her horse pastured about half a mile from our house. In the summer, early evening, she would walk to where the horse was, check to see he was OK, and walk back home. She spotted an owl over where the horse was and started "talking" to it and it started following her back to our house every evening. I couldn't believe it, so went out one night to check her story out and sure enough, there it was, perched in a tree by the house while we said a who-who good night to him. This went on all fall.

sewwhat85 02-06-2011 06:18 AM

how pretty

LindaJR 02-06-2011 06:59 AM

That is really cool. When we moved her 4 years ago we had an owl living in the barn, but with horses and goats moving in, he took up residence elseware by the second year. Probably another uninhabited barn down the road.

Murphy 02-06-2011 07:07 AM

This is very cool. I think it is very difficult to see owls. I appreciate your sharing these photos. They are great.

craftymatt2 02-06-2011 07:45 AM

Since you love owls, I just have to share a picture with you. We were at an RV Ranch (horses) in Colorado that had a lot of trees. This little guy appeared on our patio one afternoon. We called local group and they came and got him.
