I thought I would share a picture of our very old cherry plum tree. It always has a lovely show of blossom just before the leaves come out. The blossom only lasts for a couple of days so we all really enjoy the view.

That is so beautiful Aussie. I love Melbourne and would move there in a heartbeat.

Summer arrived in the tropics today

Beautiful. Enjoy the season. Winter will be here soon and I am not really looking forward to it.
Hugs.

We have had a really cold winter in Melbourne this year so we are looking forward to a bit of warmth.

litacats 09-11-2010 03:08 AM

what happened to winter here in wa it has been very dry here.tho i must admit I like the warmer days.
love your tree

AlwaysQuilting 09-11-2010 03:18 AM

I'm jealous.
We're going into fall now.
I love the springtime. Maybe I should spend spring/summer in northern hemisphere then again in the southern, and just skip fall and winter totally?
Who'll put me up in Australia?

SewSydney 09-11-2010 03:29 AM

So pretty, its been a beautiful spring day here in Sydney - a perfect day for the local Spring Fair.

Loris 09-11-2010 03:58 AM

Perfect day here in Dalby - the weather is starting to warm during the day but can get cold at night still - we have had some rain but not as much as country Victoria - we dont want anymore here for a few weeks so hubby can finish painting the house

Nursesews 09-11-2010 04:11 AM

Oh my, your pic is so very inviting and peaceful. Thanks for sharing :-D

Waiting for photos.

Your yard is so peaceful and inviting. On the coast of South Carolina we really don't get much fall. Still hot and the flowers still blooming but, you can tell they are going into fall mode. Happy spring to you.

Rebecca VLQ 09-11-2010 05:58 AM

Lovely! :D

We're starting to cool down here, but in NC we get a blissfully long fall, with warm and cool every few days until December.

I'd love to have a cup o'tea on your patio...so pretty!

dannypanny 09-11-2010 05:59 AM

Hi Aussie Thanks for sharing your lovely garden with us... I live in the southern hemisphere and it is spring here too. Love the season... We had a terrible winter too. We had black frost and it touched most of the trees that have never been touched by frost before... But we are seeing new leaves and buds on most of the trees now... Our peaches and almond trees are in full blossom and of course the orange trees..... ciao

I am slightly jealous also but.... since it is a little cool here lately I am planning my first pot of chili for dinner tomorrow evening. We only eat it when its cool outside and its one of my favortie meals, soafter a LONG SUPER HOT summer I can not wait for the cool weather to come back!

grammyp 09-11-2010 07:26 AM

We are going into fall. I love fall but your springtime is beautiful.

wvdek 09-11-2010 05:10 PM

I love the old tree and your garden. Is that an Orchid Cactus in the tree? What color? I have one that is bright pink. It is finished blooming for now. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your spring.

CarrieAnne 09-11-2010 05:16 PM

How beautiful!

quilter2 09-11-2010 05:20 PM

Your picture is beautiful, love the tree. Thanks for sharing.

ForestHobbit 09-11-2010 07:12 PM

Your yard looks so peaceful. A wonderful place to spend some quiet time.

BarbZ 09-11-2010 07:18 PM

Great Picture.!!!! I think we should all get together and charter a plane and visit that peacful, beautiful yard. We are going into Fall. But I like winter stuff anyway and Fall weather is sooooo nice and clean. Great quilting weather

Lyn 09-12-2010 05:43 AM

Your picture is beautiful and although I love spring, our summer has been broiling so I am looking forward to fall and winter.

pinebeltquilter 09-12-2010 08:00 AM

After a long, dry, hot, (most days high 90's to 105) Your picture brings thoughts of cooler days to come to South USA.
It is always humid here, which makes the heat index so much higher. Anyways, we have things to compensate for the heat, swimming, picnicing, and air conditioning. :P

adrianlee 09-12-2010 08:55 AM

Wow! You're getting spring!! Envy! I'm in Washington State. We're headed to Fall really fast, been chilly at night and that means Winter is just around the corner. Hubby has already been talking about stews and baking. Love your garden corner, really pretty.

quiltingranny 09-12-2010 11:36 AM

Your picture is beautiful! I don't mean to sound stupid but exactly what is a cherry plum tree? A cross between a cherry and a plum or is it a small sized plum like a cherry tomato?

golfer 09-12-2010 11:45 AM

I enjoy reading about people and weather from other parts of the world. Our newsletter is better than the newspapers. Australia must be a wonderful place to live. If it wasn't so far, I would like to travel there. Enjoy your spring. Back in the eastern part of the USA, we are going into fall then the dreaded winter. I hear from the farmer's almanac that it is not going to be bad.

Annz 09-12-2010 07:39 PM

Great picture. We are getting ready for the fall here and for me it is very welcoming time. I don't enjoy the hot, humid summers we have here.

This picture is so warm and 'homey' I feel like you live right next door...

earthwalker 09-12-2010 09:13 PM

Love your tree... and the garden looks so peaceful. Spring has sprung here in Western Australia...some beautiful sunny days but really cold dry nights and mornings. As Litacats mentioned hardly any rain this winter, so I am mulching as much as I can so the plants will have half a chance of survival this summer. I think we are in for a long, dry time and with water restrictions getting more stringent I am planting more waterwise natives.

mirabelle 09-12-2010 09:38 PM

Oh boy I would love spring but here in the tropics we just get a wet and a dry season. I'm already thinking about turning on the AC, getting a bit humid in Far North Queensland

Elsie Blight 09-13-2010 02:48 AM

grammyj 09-13-2010 07:08 AM

Wow Jackie that is beautiful, can't believe it's spring there, it's just cooling down going into fall here. I dread the winter. Do you have bad winters there?

Aunt Patti 09-13-2010 08:53 AM

Hi Aussie - Nice to have the sun out for a bit. Drought or no drought I've seen enough rain to last for a while.

Enjoy your spring blossoms - mine are a bit slower coming out but it won't be long.

fabricfairy 09-14-2010 02:52 AM
