I started the subject of joint pain many of you mentioned steroids. I was on steroids for a year then found out I had cataracts in both eyes the dr said it was from all the steroids I had been taking

Not sure of the connection between steroids and cataracts but I don't like them for long term use. They can hurt other body parts.
I took steroids for eczema once and it made me so hyper I threw them away. But of course they serve a purpose too, I just try to avoid them whenever possible. |
I have arthritus and experience alot of pain. My DH believes in vitamin spp. He ordered some Resveratrol 50mg. I take 2 a day and have been able to get off of celebrex. I still have some pain but nothing even close to what I had. Try googling it and see what you think.

Very interested in this as I have advanced arthritis in my left knee. Have been getting saline solution injections twice a year and they seem to help, or at least it hasn't gotten any worse. Don't really have pain, just discomfort and my mobility has been decreased, use a cane to keep weight of the 'bad' knee. 3 Steriod shots in the knee per year would be the next step when I have too much pain. What makes me leery about that treatment is the Ortho Drs. RN practioneer asked me if I have high blood pressure. Yes I do but controlling it with meds. Going to ask my primary Dr. about this at my appointment in a few weeks. Trying an over the counter flex meds but haven't experienced any change except a slighty upset stomach at times. May in Jerey

Unfortunately osteoarthritis is caused by joint damage, and it occurs in individual joints. You can have a knee replaced, and your pain will go away after you heal, but until the damage is repaired you will continue having pain, and it will get worse. Maybe consider that...my 2 co-workers have had both knees replaced and are now doing wonderfully!! Better than new.
I have rheumatoid arthritis, and have been taking traditional treatment for it (Remicade and methotrexate). Some people take steroids for it, but I said No. Anyway I started an alternative treatment, and I'm feeling pretty good after only 1 week. Steroids are NOT good!!! Not long term, anyway! |
