stop work order, or approval? Quilt inspectors
 

Sometimes it's so hard to understand what the the inspector is trying to tell you. When the machine is going a mile a minute,... and they climb on top and lay down, is that a "stop work, you're being shut down".... or "This I like!"?

I was so proud of myself for actually sitting down to practice, and for trying out McTavishing for the first time too. (No, I didn't balance the tension, and no, it's not even or even good) I didn't get 5 minutes in before she casually got up from laying against me and laid down there. No wonder I have to relearn every time I get to FMQ. LOL!

Mind want to inspect when I have it in my lap. Wouldn't know how to sew without her.

Thanks :) She's the CKD lady we've been discussing in the other thread. :) She has no idea she's ill, and I'm very happy about that, even if she is a little stinker sometimes. ;)

We are too - I do miss them. She looks like she could be a descendant of my first cat, FritzyTail. He was such a love!

My cat, Roscoe does that also. Same when I am sitting at the Computer. No way he is going to move until I stop what am doing. He is very affectionate, and spoiled. I thank him every day for adopting me. I haven't tried FMQ and understand having to relearn to do things because of him. LOL

I realised that I was reading this thread sitting completely off kilter, and it's because of a cat sitting right in front of me staring at me. LOL! The adaptations we make for our critters. Yesterday stormi not only stopped me working, but discovered the thread when I tried to sew a little more when she let me stitch for another 30 seconds. Pawing at it and snapping at it with her teeth. This after putting her on my lap (one of her favorite places) twice and having her get up anyway and move back onto the fabric. I now get to un-thread the machine and hide the thread whenever I stop. What a brat. :) I guess I now have another reason to like one of the more modern machines in the house - the hidden thread path.

Grace, that's a 301A I'm trying to stitch on. One of the best for learning FMQ on. I don't have a 401A here anymore, I do have 411Gs, virtually the same thing. Many people say the 401 and kin don't FMQ well. I can do it, but the 301A is easier. Why fight it, especially when you're learning?

Cute cat! With Summer here, Socks doesn't bother me much on the sewing. A different story in the Winter. They just don't want you to pay more attention to sewing than to them, is my idea on that!Mariah

How precious for sure .. My avatar will sit or lay by the machine until she is fed up then she nuzzles my leg and wants to be paid attention to. Then she crawls up on my lap and stays for about 10 minutes, then decides we need to go outside .. LOL Spoiled rotten !!!

LOL - she's letting you know that you shouldn't pay more attention to the quilting than to her!

My large house dog used to sit as close as he could, sometimes on the foot control and my machine would start sewing - luckily no injuries to me but sometimes to whatever I was working on. He's been gone nearly 4 years. I would dearly love to have him around. We decided no more fur babies.

My cats are kept out of my sewing room by a baby gate. I prefer no hair on my fabrics. I use to have to share a smaller sewing room with them. I had to put everything away after each sewing session. Now I have a larger room.

I piled up a bunch of polar fleece about 10" high, for my furbaby to sleep on when i'm sewing that helps with the inspection process. plus I have a spot lamp that she heats herself under

I think she's saying "I love your quilting and am fascinated watching how you work!"

My cat Felix helps me sew also. I have concluded that he likes to lay under my ott light because it is warm. My FMQ isn't that good to start with. It is hard enough to do without a 15 pound cat to move around with the quilt. I was FMQ last week and I know I moved him 5 or 6 times. It is an ok spot to lay when I am piecing. He is very affectionate and is spoiled rotten. When I have a big family party here he goes from person to person begging for a handout. We so spoil our furbabies.

It wouldn't be a finished quilt without a cat scan, would it?

I was fmq'g a table runner and had to leave my machine for a minute, just a minute, and this is what I came back to. Of course I left him there, he just looked too darn comfortable to disturb.

Couldn't go with out fur babies, even though we have to many right now. love everyone of them.

I interpret this to mean "stop what you are doing and PET ME now." I have a cattus interruptus as well.

Wow, talk about close inspections! She really puts a stop to the progress doesn't she.

AlienQuilter - I'm glad there were no injuries! I do my best to keep the pedal hidden from our dog for that exact reason. :)

Jingle - I tried that for a while, but the scratching at the door and crying wasn't worth it. So far, most of what I create is for us anyway, and it will end up with fur on it eventually, so I've given up trying to keep it fur free. Heck, the one actual quilt I've made is no longer mine anyway. It's theirs. It travels with the one to the vet, and it's their "familiar" blanket in the trailer. It's where they're both sleeping at the moment. ;)

lynnie - I've done the same thing in my sewing room when I'm working on a machine. She cuddles up and sleeps beside me. For some reason, the fabric for sewing is a completely different story though. She must be on top of it while I sew.

KathyKat - I think you may be right, or else she's just calling dibs early ;)

meanmom - I tried to FMQ with her on it too. :) She put a stop to that by standing up and trying to grab the thread as it unwound.

gramma nancy - of course! What was I thinking! I forgot entirely about the cat scan requirement. :)

lalaland - he's adorable! I do the same, I just stop for the evening if she needs the quilt more than I do. And I have more padding than she does, so she always needs it more than I do. :)

Taughtby Grandma - There's definitely no missing when the inspector has arrived, that's for sure!

My Tobey decides to climb onto my chest when I'm sewing so I can't see anything -not even the thread! He loves to help with my typing too by sitting either on the keyboard or he climbs onto my shoulder. "Ok Mom I need some loving!!!" Gota love them.
