I'm on a mission . . . to rid the world of the tacking stitch. It's very simple, but so many people do not do it.

That little X-shaped stitch across the vents of jacket, coats and skirts? It's know as a "tacking stitch" in tailoring/sewing circles. It is there only to make the garment hold up during shipping and to look good on the hanger, until you take it home.

Give yourself the once-over before leaving home; check for any tacking stitches and remove them. Spread the word!!

Sometimes I leave them in cause I don't use the pockets and it keeps them from sagging and gapping. :)

I laughed when I read your post b/c I also find it odd that people don't remove them.

I laughed too but not for that reason but because it bothers others.

I'm talking about the ones that aren't visible on the surface.

I have never seen them. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
