Taking a small break
I thought I would take a break from quilting today. Instead, I am baking bread and reading a book. An old book by James A. Mitchner called "Caravans". I just started it and I know it is hard to get into his books at first.
I got a new Pullman Loaf Pan yesterday at "Home Goods" so I thought I would use today to try it out. Dough is going through it's first rising and it smells wonderful. |
we all need a break at times. Can I come for a slice of bread as it comes out of the oven? love it
|
I think that I can smell it up here!
|
Ooooooooo! I want a slice of bread slathered with real butter!
|
I love homemade bread. I use the dough for it at Christmas time to make cinnamon rolls. Both are good right out of the oven. I made beer bread last Sunday, fast easy and no rising. Enjoy your bread and break.

Think I need to make bread this weekend. I can quilt, read, and bake.. Awesome.. I just got the book out of the library. Plain and Simple. The book about Amish, and quilts.. Can't wait until Fri.

Besides quilting thats my favorite thing to do, nothing better than a good book and homemade bread. I have read all of Mitchners books, he was a great writer.
Another great writter of historical fiction is Edward Rutherford. His books are London,The Forest,Russka,Sarum,New York. |
Ummm...what's a Pullman Loaf Pan?
|
A pullman loaf pan is longer, straight sides, and has a slide-on lid which makes a square loaf--for making lovely sandwiches.

I love fresh baked bread and books by James Mischner. Yes his books are hard to get into but once you do, you can't put them down. The first chapter is a hard read but he always refers back to it later in the book. I had read "Centenial" and I am reading "Chesapeak" now. It's a great story.
