Ok, this is the section for non-quilting talk, so I need to ask does any one know of a good site to buy 12 oz weight terry cloth? I want to make fitted covers (like a fitted sheet) to go on 8 lounge chairs for my daughter. Best price and only place I could even find it was at Denver Fabrics at $13.50 per yard. Yikes!! Joann's (yuck) only has the little thin 9.5 oz. Any info would sure be appreciated and I promise I'll post photos when they are finished!

what about using towels?

I agree on the towels idea. Even the discount stores carry towels of pretty good quality nowadays, and the color selection is huge. You could even use large beach towels instead of the bath ones.

Fabric.com has terry cloth, but it doesn't meet my standards so I would assume that it wouldn't meet yours. I ordered a trial yard to 'feel' the weight. I'll end up using it for the back of some bibs for a handicapped child, but will end up doubling it.

You might want to look at http://www.chenillemagic.com
They have a big assortment of cotton chenille. Maybe they have terry cloth too. I made a quilt for my Granddaughter out of chenille squares. |
$13.50 per yard for the 12 ounce terrycloth seems like the price I am finding.

Couldn't help but laugh when I saw the topic. My brother has a brother in-law...you guessed it Terry Kloth. I've always gotten a kick out of his name.

Just a thought ... Have you checked at a upholstery type fabric store? We have a couple here and they have very soft fabrics and teries for less than you are quoting.
ps) You could go with a cotton duck fabric too. |
