Thumb brace???
Does anyone use a thumb brace? Not a hand brace; not a wrist brace.
I'm getting old.... Mr. Arthur(itis) seems to have come to stay. :( |
I use one and it helps. I bought mine at the bowling alley. Bowlers use them to support their thumbs.
|
Do you have a brand name for it?

Does it help you or does it kinda get in the way? "Arthur" is knocking on my thumbs too.

my thumbs are really bad, being pulled in toward my palms. i mainly use braces that slip on and wrap around the wrist. that really helps a lot. they don't necessarily have to have a thumb covering to work.
long ago a Doctor "made" a thumb one for me. out of hard white stuff. didn't do a thing for me. try what you can find out there before seeing a Doctor. good luck. |
I used to use a thumb brace with not much success. I finally gave in and had surgery to replace the joint nearest to my wrist. At the same time I had the joint nearest to the nail fused because it was too far gone. I did this because I was in nearly constant pain and it was ruining my life. I had a cast on for 7 weeks (right hand, my dominate one) and a brace for several weeks after that. I had lots of pain during that time, but it was worth it because now i have NO pain!!! I do not have the use (flexibility) that I used to have, but I feel that I am better off now anyway.
