Normally I don't get stressed by life. Today, DH is sicker than usual, so I did not bring out the vacuum cleaner as planned ... so vacuuming is going un-done. Anything later than 6 - 7:00 a.m, it's too hot, humid & unhealthy now for me to go pull weeds (there's 7 bazillion just around the house, + they're growing quickly) and my yardman can't come to work because he has to stay off his sprained ankle for 6 weeks, so yardwork going un-done. Today I'm running up and down stairs, alternating (when I get there) between some hand quilting and some fmq practice. Bottom line is, this is one of those days that I feel like I'm running in place and getting nowhere fast. I also have a quilt upstairs that I need to be hand quilting on, but I can only manage to look at it (I think it's looking back). I think I'm also receiving messages from my treadmill that it's time for "walkies".

Have you been there, done that? Do you have to choose between whether to do housework and/or yardwork or whether to make quilts? Please tell me I'm not the only one on this invisible treadmill. And, please remember, I've seen frightening pictures of some of your sewing rooms, so I'll know if you're lying to me!

I understand the feeling. I need to be doing housework now but more storms coming to Indiana in a few hours so I am on the computer now.

I guess we just have to decide what to do and make a fun day out of cleaning, yardwork, gardening, shopping, chores, cooking or quilting.

I like to give myself say 30 minutes to pick up, vacuum, etc. and pretend someone called and coming over. That way I hurry and get it done fast.

I suggest you do the essential house work to make it a healthy environment. No point on going insane cleaning, because tomorrow it will be dirty again. The weeds can always wait. the way I see it, they will always grow back. I am sure soon you will have better weather to do it. Take care of yourself and your husband and the rest will eventually get done when is important.

Maybe set time limits... you know you have to get some done in the yard by a certain time, so every morning go out for 10 minutes. Then take a break . Pick out another chore, do it for ten minutes or so. Break it up and then it doesn't seem so over whelming

And remember in 100 years there still will be dirt, dust bunnies and what not still here and we will be long gone

Yeah, when I get stressed out I go take a nap. Things always look better after an hour or so.

I had a list...and then make another list...and a list for that list LOL Now? I do what NEEDS to be done, and the rest? It can wait :D:D:D

The essential housework gets done, quilting, and then whatever else I get around to  Do what you can, but don't drive yourself crazy over the rest :D:D:D

Thanks to all for kind advice. (I like the nap advice!) Although I appreciate the thoughts, I wasn't really seeking advice; with a critically ill, disabled husband and some health problems of my own, I have to deal with whatever arises here on a daily basis.

The reason I posted was just curiosity ... to see if there are many of you who are like me with too many choices because of too little time in which to accomplish everything. And how many of you feel like you must get everything else done before you can "reward" yourself with some sewing/quilting time.

I think it is important to check off items on our Must Do lists...but it is equally important to reward ourselves with quilting or other activities that are fun and stress relievers :D
So yes, I rewarded myself when life got busy and hectic, I set some time aside for myself as a priority too! Some days more time, some less, but some time each day :D:D:D

I do know how you feel. A similar situation here. Sometimes I feel like sitting in a corner with my head spinning counterclockwise!!! Or maybe I will just follow the dogs lead and chase my tail for a while!
