Please can you help? I have to make a normal straight tote, for a friend, but she wants to have a divider in the bag. How do I do this, or is there a free pattern that could help me.

I'd probably draw up my own pattern.
But here's how I picture it, in miniature.
Imagine 2 brown paper lunch bags, opened up, put them next to each other with front sides touching, sew together the sides that are touching (making the divider).
Then add your handles.

I hope that's clear.
You've given me the itch. I think I'll try to make one.

I made a bag with a divider once. It had an extra panel sewn in the inside between the front and back sections. It didn't go down into the bottom seam, but I think that you could add it. You have to be careful because with the fusable fleece the layers are already thick. I like the fusable fleece because it gives great stability to the bag.

I know these ones seem a little intricate, but the results sure look great!

Many thanks for all your info re: the tote with a divider. I have checked out the patterns and I think they will be fine. I was interested to see you are from OZ and WA. I was there in 2003 and 2007 and stayed in Jerramungup ( what a place !!), but my friends have now moved to Coolup, so will be back over to see them in 2013.
Thanks again. Chris.

Thanks for your help with the patterns for the tote with a divider. I will be making them for myself and for my friend who is very unsure on some patterns.
Take care and regards to BC, a beautiful province.
Chris.
