Tricycle for a 21 month old
 

I am looking for something like a tricycle that a 21 month old can peddle or push with her feet. We (grandparents) have been out of the toddler ages for years so we don't know what is available. Her older brother has a tricycle and she tries to ride it but its too big. I just need something that she can ride on. I'm not even sure if she can get the hang of peddling at her age. I welcome all suggestions.

I would take your grand to Toys R Us and let her try different ride toys. My granddaughter had different fancy ride toys at that age but she played with a horse riding stick, running around all day with it. Do they still make those?

so he could keep up with the big kids, but he didn't really take to it. He did tear it up on a big wheel sometime later, though. I think going to the store to see what works is a good idea...

I bought my granddaughter a radio flyer "big wheel" type tryke for her second birthday. She is almost 3 now and still can't reach the pedals yet, even with blocks on them and the seat set in the shortest position. I would start with one that she can push with her feet first. I didn't get the traditional tryke because reviews said they were easy to tip...

I agree with Bella. Goes to ToysRUs with the little one and check out sizes. They do make them that small.

Wait until garage sale season. Get one cheap that she can try out before you buy. Best way to get them. They are soooo overpriced brand new.

They make tricycles that have safey belts and lockable peddles with a handle that can be pushed by an adult. I bought one for my granddaughter and she liked being pushed until she could master the peddles. Happy shopping! Grandparenting is wonderful.

I agree with the Toy R Us and let her try different things. I made each of my grands a horse riding stick, and after 15 years the oldest one still has hers, and the baby who is now 5 put hers next to her raised bed so the horse doesn't run away (its tied to the bed via the reins !LOL).

Please consider this for the little one. It looks strange because there are no pedals but it has a purpose and it really works. My DD got her 2 year old on for his birthday last April and now he can balance it just like it is a bike so he will never have to have training wheels on a big bike. He flies on it now all over the neighborhood when they are out walking and playing. You can only giet it on line, I believe.
