I made this bowling pin into a fun scarecrow from old bluejeans, scraps and a little bit of imagination, the bowling ball is now a gazing ball!!

Those are so clever! Wish I could think of something like those.

What a fun idea! Wonder what you'll use for the crows? I mean, ya gotta have crows if you have a scare crow, right?

Murphy 09-20-2011 07:16 PM

A lot of imagination and extremely clever (smile). Love that bowling pin. My DH would absolutely love it. So clever. Thank you for sharing.

lovely!! I love the " hay stalk " in her mouth...
I'm on the search for a bowling ball to upcycle into a gazing ball... I'm thinking I might paint mine with glow in the dark paint and then apply the glass baubbles over it... figure it can't hurt... I've love it to glow at night.....

blueangel 09-20-2011 09:25 PM

Both projects are great. I have an old bowling bowl I have to convert to a gazing ball as well. My daughter gave it to me 3 years ago and I haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I have all the supplies except the silicone grout. Someday.

wow..those are great...what did you PRIME the pin with before painting it? and what did you use on the ball, general tile stuff?

I sanded both the ball and pin, then I primed the pin with leftover kilz and then painted the neck and face with acrilic paint, I havent put a seal on yet but I will once it dries a few days, for the ball I sanded and washed it and used liquid nail to place the glass beads, then let it cure about 3 days, I used the grout with no sand so the glass beads would'nt get scratched. After it dries for about 2 days I sealed it with grout sealer and put a layer of poly on it. Generally grout is not good in extream cold, so I am going to bring my ball for the winter.
