Thank you all for your comments on DD and her diagnosis. I apreeciate everyone's honest opinions.
It's been 1 week since DD started the Concerta and a very low sugar diet change. I haven't seen too much of a difference yet, but I also don't expect to right away. I do notice that the less sugar she gets (breakfast, lunch, snacks and at school) makes some difference, but not enough. I'm actually thinking now I may not notice anything big with it being so close to the end of the school year (her last day is the 25th) because they are doing virtually no serious work now. She has her last social studies test today and she's studied pretty hard for it. I think she has one last spelling test tomorrow. We have a med check at the doctor's on the 23rd, so the next step will be discussed then. I just want to thank you all again for your support. It really means alot that I can come here and talk to people about this, even though it has nothing to do with sewing or quilting. |
I am glad she is doing well.

Happyto hear that her new meds and diet are making an improvement. :-)

Be sure you get a written report from the teacher(s) as well as to how they see her doing since she began meds.
it helps the docs to have their input also. : ) Here's a link to a form you can fill out before each doc visit....... http://www.brianjtaylor.com/forms/mer.pdf and here's the teacher's version: http://www.brianjtaylor.com/forms/smer.pdf print out a copy for each teacher that will do an evaluation. : ) HOpe this helps! |

Glad she is doing better. My youngest was on concerta And it worked well for her.

Please think long and hard before telling the school she is medicated. I chose not to tell them to keep my DD from being treated poorly. That is this county though. Your's may be different.

Glad to see there is some improvement!

Thanks for the info! As of right now, the teachers don't know DD is on meds because I want to get UNBIASED feedback from them. Once I hear back from her teacher, then I'll let her know that DD has started meds. I will keep those forms though and use them in the future.[/quote]
My son's school has a specialist helping us w his add--we had to have a dr's note in order to enroll him in the program. Also, since his testing was done, he gets extra time to process questions/write responses. THIS has been HUGE in his ability to finish exams. He is sophomore and the SAT/ACT's are looming. We hope he can manage to make it through them. |
Thanks for the update. I hope this works out well for all of you.
