Since you all saw the start of my garden, I thought that I would share what it looks like today. Slim (my scarecrow did a good job)...and I've already shared the squash, cucs and bell peppers with 5 other families. We'll be eating corn in a week or so...I pulled a couple of tomatoes this morning...enjoy!

Our neighbor gave us about 400 daylilies a few yrs ago. We planted them all the way down a fence that is about 300 feet long... They have multiplied..alot!

Garden's looking GOOD Sandpat. We are getting squash and cucs here too. Green beans are being picked this week and some potatos have alread been taken up (they were starting to rot in the middle because of all the rain we have had) The rain was good for the corn though. Think we'll be a few weeks behind you on that.

Love the day lillies!!!!! I have the old time orange - would love to get some of the other colors like you have!!!

Beautiful gardens - both veggies and flowers. My iris are blooming, but that is about all. Day lillies have buds, but won't be out for awhile.

sewjoyce 06-18-2009 05:10 PM

Marcia 06-18-2009 06:47 PM

Patti--your garden is wonderful and I am so jealous of your corn---I just love corn on the cob. (had some for dinner tonight)

And your day lilies are beautiful. The colors are spectacular. Either the deer or rabbits have gotten into mine and are eating all my flowers!

amma 06-18-2009 08:56 PM

Oh I wish that I had smell-a-vision!!! Your garden is mouth wateringly beautiful!!! Your flowers are gorgeous, such beautiful colors!!! :D :D :D

Joan 06-18-2009 09:36 PM

What a wonderful garden.

Wish you could e mail a tomato or two to me. They are
so much better than ones bought in the store.

And the daylillies----they are extraordinary!!!

Beautiful Patti! And ahead of me - I have green tomaaaarrrrtoes (say it right! ) forming but my corn is only a few inches high - I was late getting it out but autumn is usually long and warm here so we'll just get it a bit later! I was thinking it's about time i posted some updated pics but I'm a bit afraid that the terrible twins will hijack and start trying to set me up as a gogo dancer again!

Day lilies are beautiful - did you know that you can eat the buds? Sprinkle them in a salad, they give a nice crunch! :D

tlrnhi 06-19-2009 12:58 AM

Awesome!
Now I am going to go and cry because I can't have a garden like that! :( :( :(

quiltwoman 06-19-2009 02:48 AM

looks great! I can taste those tomatoes already--yummy.

Quilt4u 06-19-2009 02:51 AM

Looks great.

sandpat 06-19-2009 03:30 AM

Oh, thanks all....I really do wish I could share the bounty with all of you..the tomatoes are really loaded so I know we'll be canning lots of TJ.
I think we are gonna have to go buy a freezer to put up the corn. Last year a gave a ton away and we were out of what I had frozen by Dec. DH can't eat it as much now as he could before, but I think I'd rather have a little room in the freezer.

The Daylilies are really pretty and I can't take any credit for that. The neighbor had bought all these hybrids varieties and had a HUGE round bed of them. She decided that she wanted a swimming pool for her grands and dug them all up. She gave them to me. DH and I spent about a weekend planting and now the cows eat them through the fence despite the electric wire we put up. We enjoy whats left

(k...you are probably right about posting...will probably happen here too...you do remember some of my other threads...right??)

Patti, the reason you've only got a peek, is bc that is K's 'moon'*, that is shining so brightly, you can't see well! 8)

barnbum 06-19-2009 04:31 PM

Wow!! It's lush!! I love the zinnias!! Great job!!

sandpat 06-20-2009 04:25 AM

Karla, this is my first year to add the Zinnias to the veggie garden and I love them there! I can't believe how many bees they have attracted to the garden, maybe thats why I have weird corn stalks growing out of the top of my corn! Its really nice to have so much of something pretty to cut and bring in the house too!

yes, when she said 400, I was thinking, man, what a lot of work...but, then...400 beautiful flowers blooming...if you could keep cows out!
Maybe put some chicken wire, behind them? but my canna lilies used to grow really tall...well, was a thought

gaigai 06-20-2009 06:27 AM

Ohhh Patti, your garden is beautiful. Do me a favor and eat a tomato wit the sun still on it for me! And corn. In one of the other posts you guys were talking about sweet corn and I missed my grandpa so much I could cry. He grew the best sweet corn. He too grew Ambrosia, and one called Honey and Cream, and one called Silver Streak (I think). They were the very best!!! Grandma would put the water on to boil as he headed out to pick the corn.

He also grew more than 500 tomato plants from seed every year and staked and suckered each one. He had these gorgeous heirloom low acid pink ones that were soooooooo good, especially with the sun on them (the best way to eat a tomato in my never to be humble opinion). I really miss him.

sandpat 06-20-2009 01:55 PM

I know Loretta...it just about killed us to plant them all, but we had to!! They were free!!
