Does anyone know whether these are good to shop at stores? We live in a college town and I think that is why they want to build here. I hope they have good food and prices. We already have a Wal-mart and Meijers but some competition might bring their prices down. Hope so anyway.

I love Aldi. I do not buy a lot of the fresh meat but They are getting better with that. I don't think you will find better produce. There are things I will only buy there. The prices can't be beat. Just an FYI. They only take cash and debit. No checks or credit cards. Have fun!

Only a few products from Aldi's have we found that we don't like. Prices are usually good. Take your own bags unless you want to buy them in the store. They don't provide them.
No carry outs to help keep prices lower. No personal checks.

Aldi is very popular here in the UK, one of the better 'value' supermarkets

I went to Aldi's once and it was awful my gf goes there and buys certain things, but never fresh meat.

I love Aldi's. It is the number #1 grocery chain in Europe and has more than 500 stores. I love their salsa and chips, will drive 100 miles to go there.

They only sell the Aldi's brands but everything is excellent quality and way, way cheaper than the American stores. In October they sell special Oktoberfest grocery items, at Christmas they sell Stollen and at Easter they have lamb! I love their spiral hams, we serve one every Christmas.

I could and WILL go on and on about the great value for their foods. I raised 3 teenagers that never stopped eating and they would have starved had it not been for Aldi's.

Love Aldi's...bring your own reusable bags...and a quarter. You put a quarter in the slot to release a shopping cart. When you return it to the rack, you get your quarter back.
Haven't had much that I didn't like. I don't do many canned goods, but I love the chili beans.
I buy a lot of my fresh veggies and some fruits at Aldi's...the fresh ground sirloin is good...and I have bought a couple of other meat items that were good.
I highly recommmend the frozen Apple pie...you have to bake it, and I can't tell the difference between mine and this frozen one.

we LOVE our local Aldi's. Especially the older folks here in town. NEVER go there the day the SS checks come out!

Their produce, milk, eggs can NOT be beat, not even at our military base!
They get wonderful German things for the Christmas season!

Their plants and flowers are better than most floral shops as well!
In the article the paper printed here before they opened it told how Aldi's does NOT make their own label foods. BUT they are bought from Name brand makers and Aldi's pays to have their label put on!

It is like the old RCA/Zenith TV's. One came of the assembly belt with an RCA label and the next one got a Zenith label. Or like how there are 3 brand names of anti-freeze for your car, but we only have ONE manufacturing plant in this country.

Some of their stuff is decent, and with good prices.
I'll tell you what is the best, though...their CHOCOLATE! It is FABULOUS! They are a German store, and they have German and Austrian chocolate. They have these great big bars that are stuffed full of whole hazelnuts that are to DIE for! Plus lots of others varieties. Once I discovered their chocolate, I would go just to stock up and keep it in my quilting room. My husband discovered my stash. We are now eating low carb. No more Aldis chocolate for us.
:(
They also carry other German foods; I tried the spaetzle once and it was good.

I have bought bouquets of cut flowers there that have lasted 2 weeks!
