We have a temporary house guest!

We had a severe storm come thru our own and neighboring towns yesterday afternoon. Winds up to 90 MPH and a little bit of rain. In our city, we still have 80,000 people without electricity. There are so many trees down that the City workers worked all day today trying to remove them but there are still alot blocked roads. My other half volunteers at the local animal shelter every week, walking and bathing dogs. We got a call today telling us that the shelter doesn't have any power and hasn't had any since last evening. The city told them the power would be back on by Wednesday! They were asking for temporary foster homes for all the dogs up for adoption. We of course said yes and we brought Zurdo, a 1 1/2yo Pomeranian home with us today! Temporarily though because we already have 3 dogs (Shepherd/Akita mix, German Shepherd and a Pomeranian) and 4 cats. Zurdo is pretty well behaved though he does like to chase the cats! Housebroken too, which is a plus! So far, everyone is co-habitating without any major issues!

What a good soul to allow a little excitement into the mix! I'll bet your cats will be looking for him for days after he is gone.

He is a doll, no way could I give him back. I for sure would change his name, don't know how that one came about.

I looked up Zurdo thru Mr. Google and it means "Left Handed" and is also a Mexican Fantasy Adventure movie.

Oh, he's a handsome guy, my Pom Rusty, would love to play with him. I told the vet one time, Rusty needed some pills to calm him down, the vet told me, Rusty would keep me young, sence I'm in my 60's. lol Barb

Stitchit123 07-01-2012 08:02 AM

By any chance could Zurdo be some ones favorite at the pound??

kathyd 07-01-2012 10:43 AM

Looks like he is smiling for his picture! Your house sounds like my sister's...there is always room for one more pet :)

Latrinka 07-01-2012 10:57 AM

The law says we can only have 7 pets (live within the city limits) But we can foster as many as we want. Figure that one out!

quilter824 07-01-2012 11:43 AM

too bad you're not closer my pom Coco would love to have a new friend

luvstoquilt 07-01-2012 12:28 PM

Hope yall soon get power back.

Donnasue 07-01-2012 01:19 PM

If I lived closer, he would have a wonderful (although extremely hot) home here in GA.

Momo 07-01-2012 01:21 PM

How cute it is. Looks like a keeper.

Floralfab 07-01-2012 01:32 PM

Oh he is so cute!!!! I hope he gets adopted soon. So good of you to make him your house guest.

chips88 07-01-2012 01:35 PM

by wednesday my heart would be melted with those eyes looking at me. have to keep em.

CAS49OR 07-01-2012 01:58 PM

I had to look! [h=2]English Translation of ZURDO[/h]: left-handed

I guess in this case, left pawed.

He's so cute, will be hard to give him back. On the other hand, thanks for fostering him, someone is going to get a sweet dog!

This little furbaby is so fortunate to have someone like you to help him! Kudos!

indymta 07-01-2012 03:53 PM

What a cute little guy he is. How lucky to have found such wonderful people to look after him. Bless you!

earthwalker 07-01-2012 04:44 PM

Can't imagine he will be in "care" for long....a very adoptable little guy. I'd have him in a heartbeat....but it's an awfully long journey...not to mention quarantine!

auntpiggylpn 07-01-2012 07:21 PM

We got a call earlier this evening and the power is back on at the shelter! We have to take him back tomorrow at 10am. :(! We took him with our 14 yo pom today to PetSmart and got him a little toy to take with him. He is really a wonderful dog and will make someone a super pet! We really want to get into fostering and hopefully someday have a rescue for German Shepherds and senior dogs. This was our first go at it and yes, it is sad that he has to go back to the shelter but we can't keep all of them!

luvstoquilt 07-01-2012 07:40 PM

I really meant it. How can I get him? I would adopt him for sure! I have a cat, Peach, who is 5 yrs old and was raised by 2 dogs that we rescued years ago. Peach and I would love him to be a part of our family!

Wow, wouldn't that be wonderful!!!! Here is their website:
http://www.cityoffortwayne.org/anima...d-control.html It looks like you are about 4 hours away from Ft Wayne. If I can be of any assistance in helping this happen, please PM me!!!

Judith1005 07-01-2012 07:50 PM

He's a looker for sure. :) Such a big heart. Hugs go out to your pets for sharing their people with this little doggy in need.

MimiBug123 07-01-2012 08:15 PM

No way would he go back! I think he's a keeper, for sure! We have 4 dogs-a Yorkie, a Maltese, a Chihuahua and a Pomeranian-Yorkie mix (we call her a Porkie), as well as 3 cats. I really think your doggies and kitties need another brother!

annasgirl 07-02-2012 05:17 AM

Well now, he's small, doesn't take up much room....surely you could keep him!!!! (or I would take him, that little cutie!)

Grannyh67 07-02-2012 05:27 AM

OH!!! He is so beautiful. I'm a sucker, we have got two dogs given to us, both Yorkies. One was about 8 weeks old wandering in a parking lot and the other one was 1 & 1/2 years old. The older one is also a Yorkie. She was too much trouble for Her owner. I guess two dogs aren't bad but we had two before that, lol...We also have a Schnauzer we have raised from a pup and a little Yorkie which is my baby we have raised fro a pup. Now we have four adorable dogs. We love them all. If I lived close I would have one more, lol...He is a handsome mad. :)

Caswews 07-02-2012 06:05 AM

Zurdo went back to the shelter today :( He will make someone a wonderful pet; I just know someone will adopt him. He isn't at a high kill shelter so I'm not concerned. He will get adopted and soon!

AuntieD 07-02-2012 06:16 PM
