A few posts on this board lately show gorgeous things to make with wedding and bride maid dresses.

But I was recently bickering with my mother about what to do with mine. She was set on taking it to get it preserved and boxed to save for years and years. I, on the other hand, wanted to donate it to the local thrift store. I had such a good day in it that it would make me feel even better thinking that someone else could have such a great day in that dress. My philosophy is that stuff is meant to be used, not stored in attics.

So what have you done with yours?

Mine is in a box in my mother's attic. She holds out hope that my youngest will want to get married in it.

After 40 1/2 years, it's still hanging in the hall closet in a dry cleaner's bag. I was going to make baby blessing dresses for my grandchildren, but that didn't happen, so am not sure what I will do with it. My mom made it, so I will keep it and use it for a special project.

My mom has mine, she wont let me have it, for some crazy reason she thinks I'll cut it up and make something out of it. Now what gave her that idea?

Mine is in my closet I put it on every once in a while to remember that day. I had so much fun and it was such a beautiful dress!

Also in a nice box at my mom & dad's ... right beside hers :)

They just celebrated their 55th anniversary - my sister and I got to put on her dress a couple times when we were little, and our daughters got to model them too.

Mine is hanging upstairs at my mom's she keeps asking what I am going to do with it. I had 5 boys maybe my granddaughter will want it! LOL

Mine is thrown way at the back of the closet and will probably be thrown out one day. Wouldn't fit me now anyway.

Mine is in the attic, hanging from a hook. I have boys, so I don't think either of them will be interested in it. I should toss it next time I get a cleaning bug. We got married in the mid 70's and the dress is a rayon or poly fabric. Not worth making christening dresses out of it, but I have my Mom's dress and it is a lovely satin and it is 56 years old.

Hanging in a closet...for 33 years...I plan on using it to make a christening gown someday for a grandchild (have none ...my boys aren't married yet)...and with leftover, may play and make some quilt blocks embellished with lace, buttons, etc. for pillows or something.
