We had a doberman named Daisy a long time ago that chose to sleep on top of my DHs tools in the top tray of his big open tool box. I always thought it would hurt to lay on all those metal bits and pieces. But it was her favorite place to sleep.

What is the weirdest place your pet has chosen to sleep?

Grammy o'5 02-28-2011 10:58 PM

It may not be the weirdest, but sometimes the most frustrating! One of my cat loves to lay between the computer keyboard and monitor! Sometimes, his paw gets one of the keys just right and all of a sudden there's a row of dddddddddddddddddddd or whatever he hits. One day I came to the computer to find 219 new "blank" windows open. Geez.

Challenging I am sure! LOL

Several places. On the top of the wood pile. On the seat of the riding lawn mower. On top of the pinball machine.

My fur-baby, Josh, decided he wants to sleep on the bed, on top of my head. I use two pillows, so he decided the one on top is his. Now, I consider him the guardian of my dreams. He is completely white, with seafoam green/blue eyes - like an angel.

One of my cats loves to sleep on my laptop keyboard, whenever he can get the chance. The other loves to get into the bottom of my wardrobe and curl up with my shoes

mu big ol puppy likes to take over pillows. its not a weird palce but the positions he decides to lay in are. he would rather have his head hanging then his body off of the pillows.

Lv2sew2011 02-28-2011 11:50 PM

My Yorkie, sleep in her bed next to me sitting at the computer in a lawn chair...LOL

sewdarnbusy 03-01-2011 01:16 AM

we had a ferrel cat, we often found her sleeping on top of my infant sisters head, in her crib. NOT GOOD

I do believe you may have one of my Rudy's siblings! Rudy not only steals my second pillow, he insists on laying across my arm when I sleep on my side. Sometimes I wake up nose-to-nose with him; UGH, cat cooties! :-) But, it he's not there, I go find him.

Favorite nap spot - he watches TV (on his right) until he falls asleep

Our cat loves to watch/sleep from his "thrown", a big pillow on the back of the couch. We put a pillow on the back of the new couch so he wouldn't make such a dent in the new pillows. He thought that was just fine.

I was not the first owner of my cat Taz. I imagine the first owner was a back-sleeper because she always tried to sleep right on top of me. However, I'm a side-sleeper. She would take so much care to balance herself on my hip which was sticking up in the air. Once she got comfortable (if that's possible sleeping on someone's hip), we both fell asleep until I turned over. I forgot to mention I'm also a very "active" sleeper. More than once, poor Taz got flung around the bed, and even onto the floor on occasion. But she never did give up trying to sleep on my hip.

Also, my mom's cat, Henry, loves to sleep on top of the cable box. He goes back and forth between the warm cable box and the soft cat bed.

My hubby has some kind of gun cleaning/calibrating something or other that is metal and all kinds of metal protrusions. One of our cats (he is a Daddy's boy) sleeps on top of it when DH is at work! Guess he is trying to stay close to Dad!

ssgramma 03-01-2011 04:41 AM

Top of the cabinets.

I was looking for a pic but can't find it. Oh well.

Anyway, she goes on top of the refer and jumps across to the cabinets on the other side then goes to the end overlooking the hallway to observe all comings and goings :-)

alaskasunshine 03-01-2011 04:49 AM

In my quilting/mitten room I have piles of wool and I can always find my furry loves there. If I am in the room that's where they will be napping. I finally just last night put chunks of wool in Sunshines kennel to cuddle up in and on. She fell right asleep in seconds...like 5.

What a wonderful topic and so sweet to see where our sweeties like to catch some zzzzzz's

This isn't a weird place to nap, unless you want to sit there, but here is my Heidi with her baby. She watches the birds in the trees with her chin on the armrest.

Sorry, wrong picture.

wyckedquilter 03-01-2011 05:40 AM

On top of the TV, in the bathroom sink, top of the microwave...they pretty much have free roaming of the house... ;)

Janetlmt 03-01-2011 05:48 AM

I had a shih tsu, Lucy who passed away in January. She loved to sleep in the coiled up hose of our electolux. Gee...I miss her so much.
Peace and Blessings,

Our cat was sitting on a friends lap, she was drinking a cup of water, a tall plastic glass with a large opening. We didn't notice until after he fell asleep. Here he was going for a drink and couldn't get it, but fell asleep with his head in the glass. There was just enough room for air to get in there otherwise we would have pulled him out.

You never know where my bulldog will sleep

NCquilter 03-01-2011 06:24 AM

When Roxie was a puppy, she always liked to sleep under the bed. As she got bigger, she couldn't fit anymore, but she would still try to get under. One day I found her half way under the bed. She couldn't get all the way under, but she fell asleep anyway. It was so cute. I'll have to find the pic I took and post it.

My bedroom does not have heat, so my miniature poodle Molly sleeps under all of the quilts as close to me as she can possible get(If she gets too hot she moves up on the pillow as close to my head as she can get). If I sit at the computer too long, she wants me to hold her with my left arm with her chin on my shoulder. I think this is because right after she came to live with me I had surgery on my right wrist, so I had to hold her on the left.

DogHouseMom 03-01-2011 09:01 PM

Not my dog, but a friends. She was being shown heavily by professional handlers. She decided to crawl under the deck then had a nice deep sleep. So deep ... she didn't come when called. The professional handlers looked and looked and looked all around the neighborhood. Because this was a valuable show dog and they were professionals and responsible ... they hired a helicopter!! (the dog is white so should be easy to spot right?).

Cost was several thousand dollars and the dog was under the deck the whole time.

I have this big fat fluffy cat, small by no means, but he just HAS to sleep in tiny tight spots. His favorite are kids shoe boxes, He will cram in there till the sides break, then he leaves. His next best is the plastic craft tubs. Just any small tight spot, he will curl up into.

Years ago in my first apartment, my boyfriend (who is now my husband) had won a giant Purple stuffed Turtle. Like any wise young person I put it on top of my refrigerator. I had a cat who used to leap up to this perch and take a nap there. When you disturbed him by opening the refrigerator door, he would swat your head. It was fun to watch unsuspecting - new visitors to the house.

One of our dogs fell asleep wrapped around a plant in a rather small (for the dog) pot. It was the softest sunny spot that day. I didn't get a picture of that, but one time I found a couple of them sleeping with their tails curled together.

We used to have a cat who would sleep on top of the TV and regularly fall off of it. She'd land on her feet, but it was obvious that she did not intend to jump. We never figured out why this kept happening. Maybe something to do with alpha rays? She did not fall off of other perches.

Dont leave dryer door open my mini pin and mini fox terrier are in there in a heart beat. Raised a young baby deer one year and if he got in the house he would go to the bathtub and climb in thats where I had to keep him for a while till I got him well enough to go outside

Maride 03-02-2011 03:13 AM

I had a dog that used to roll around DH's neck and sleep there while he watched TV.

I have so many that I don't know which one to show. This is my DD's dog but how uncomfortable does this look?

Glenda m 03-02-2011 04:46 AM

We have a chuweenie that likes to sleep with the DH. Usually can find Timmy the dog sleeping between DH legs and dear dog has his head on DH backside.

quilter68 03-02-2011 05:56 AM

Laughing out loud! More photos, please.

Chrys 03-02-2011 05:57 AM

One of my cats used to sleep in the sink in the bathroom. :)

Fabaddict 03-02-2011 06:05 AM

I had a cat once that liked to sleep in an empty fish bowl.
