I was in the car yesterday and my DGS started saying Granmma Rhonda Grandma Rhonda over and over to get my attention. I started teasing him saying Gramma ran away! I'm not here. I'm just your imagination.

I say this alot to the grands and did it with my kids. My DGD Rachel will say That's what my mommy always says! And I say where do you think she learned it? LOL

My daughter uses the tickle monster to get the kids out of a bad mood.

so How do you tease your kids or grandkids?

love monster gives lots of kisses long noisy ones preferred!

My grandson Devon thinks it is hilarious when I tell them NO Kisses!! No NO NO kisses!! and they then gang up on my and smother me in kisses! Then I pretend to wipe them all off and they go into gales of laughter.
Or they squeal NO Kisses and then Gramma has to cover their faces in kisses while they try to cover up or get away!
They love it!!

I do this to my grands they are so funny they do not want to give goodbye kisses or hugs so I hide my face and say good I don't want any slobbery kisses or bear hugs and they attack me with slobbery kisses and bear hugs that I try to fight off! They think it is hilarious!!

Our DIL has pretty well stopped us from seeing our grand kids because of an arguement her & I had but I always tell mine "Moon & Stars" So after I hadn't saw them in over a month I bought some confetti with hearts, moon & stars in it & had DH sprinkle it all over their sidewalk & porch! There was enough confetti to do a couple of "dustings' but dh used the entire bag! So when ever I see them or talk to them all I say is "MOON & STARS" & they know what I'm talking about. I've reassured them a Grandma's & Grandpa's love is forever & ever no matter what ANYONE tells them. We will love them till the day we die. So sad what a mother can do to put a damper on your relationship with you & your grandkids.....I also have construction paper now with scrapbook stamps of the hearts, moon & stars so every holiday they are going to get hearts, moon & stars put at their bus stop since she wasn't too appreciative of it being on her property!

When we would yell for our mom, she would always yell back, "she just left". That's the best I can do, I can't even get my son married off, much less think about grandkids!

I'm not sure how this started, but now whenever I have my two grandsons ( 2 and 3 yrs old) in the back seat of my car, going to pick up their Mommy at work, I sing 'Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat". The 3 year old will say 'faster!' and I keep singing it faster and faster. Eventually, when I can't sing any faster, he'll say "Grandma, you funny!". No other song gets this reaction.

Sorry to tell you but Grandparents don't have rights. My daughter took our granddaughter that had lived with us for the first 4 and half years of her life. We had no rights, it felt like she died, we knew we would never see her again. That has been 10 years ago January.

One way I tease when the grands are in a bad mood is to tell them "don't smile", they can't resist its all smiles.

babyboomerquilter 02-06-2011 12:40 PM

I squint one eye at them and at that point they know I'm going to chase them!

DAWNROBIN 02-07-2011 02:15 PM

One year when I first started to raise them, only two DGK they were about 4 & 7 My ex stood by them and trying to figure out what was wrong with them. Then all of a sudden he says 'Now I know, look you guys you dropped your smile' talk about them looking for their smiles on the floor was the most loving moment I felt. Now their 10 % 13 years old It only works when they think about PAPA and those times

quilter41 02-07-2011 02:25 PM

Here in Indiana Grandparents do have rights. I have a friend who went to court and get one weekend a month with her DGK.

I have 4 DGS that live 3 blocks away from me. The youngest one is going to be 3, the next one up is 5, then 9, and the oldest is 13. They all have scooters,( those little things with the tiny wheels) and yesterday I heard knocks on the door and here the 3 youngest ones came over to see me and... to get a popcicle. I keep the tube kind in the freeze at all times. So they each one had one, then the little one says, "Lets go home" and the other ones said "Can I have another one?" So of course, the little one changes his mind-until he got the popcicle in his hand. Then he wanted to take it home. So I made each one give me a hug and a kiss or they couldn't have the popcicle. So they all gave me a big hug and I gave them kisses. They don't like giving kisses anymore, but I can get one - with a popcicle!

Cute! They grow up so fast don't they? I remember when my son (34) went through that you don't hug me stage when he was about 12. It was embarrasing to have your mom hug you! LOL Fortunately his youngest son now 12 loves the hugs! He gives me shoulder and back massages too. His mom has a massage business so Jake knows how to give good ones!
