In hopes of saving money and making some memories with my girls I decided to make them their costumes this year. My three year old and I talked and she decide to she wanted to be Hello Kitty. I made a plush face and kitty paws (she help stuff) and purchased face paint to finish it off. Seeing on how Hello Kitty wears regular clothes, we were able to use DD red jumper and pink shirt, total cost $5. DD number two is only seven months, so our talking was kinda one-sided. My DH wants to take the girls around the neighborhood (more candy for him) and here in Maine it is pretty cold on Halloween night, so I had to figure out what to make her so that she would not get cold or be cover up by her coat. I decided that I could put her in her jammies, slippers, baby robe and purchase a shower cap, attached some curlers with yarn hair and thus she is instantly transformed in a little house wife. Making the costumes was alot of fun and I am planning on doing this again next year. So sorry for ramble, thanks for reading and I cant wait to hear what everyone is doing. :D

I have a hand in costumes every year, Though as they get older some of the work is theirs, they are partially into recycling old costumes as well, this year they are A goddess, Hannah Montana(my son) and a fairy, for cold weather the girls are coming up with a second one. They are going to what is called Spooktacular and they are dressing up for that as well.

If my daughter needs help with my DGS's costumes...I won't find out until probably Oct 28th or 29th

I can usually be counted on to be working up almost to the time that they put them on, it doesn't take long to do them thankfully, most of my friends don't get that in a few hours I can start with fabric etc and end up with a full costume. I generally have enough zippers etc on hand to do pretty much anything.

I used to make both my DD's their costumes and also made the for DGD. But with finances being tight, and the cost of fabric so high, it was cheaper to buy them this year. Makes me sad.

:( I don't have any trick-or-treaters anymore. Making costumes is one thing I miss from the little kid days. I love to make Halloween costumes. We've had several prize winners over the years.

Yes, I can relate as I used to make costumes for my kids when they were little. It was such a big deal, for my daughters, anyway to decide just what they wanted to be.

I actually only completely "made" their costumes which each of them were two and have the cutest pictures of them. My oldest daughter was a pink rabbit, my son was a tiger (the description fit, too) and my youngest was a cowgirl.

I have done the mouse from Fivel Goes West, DW from Arthur, Hershey's Kisses, Mrs. Santa, an alien complete with a light-up space ship, Rapunzel in her castle tower, scary mummies, "gut guy" (a guy with all the internal organs showing), Huck Finn, Laura Ingalls, a fish tank, a sparkly green dragon, a sumo, Jack from Jack in the Box....etc.

I am...with the exception of very few years, I've made most of the costumes for my daughters (yes even TC's when she was little). Now I make them for my granddaughter, and my two youngest most years. However this year, Great-Gamma found my DG the cutest little lady bug costume at a garage sale...so I won't be doing Hailey's this year.

DH is going as a "deranged Cupid" and we are collaborating on the costume. He is now considering wearing boxers with hearts on it instead of a diaper. We'll see how this one develops.
