Another way to help the thieves commit fraud and identity theft. As well as ruin one's credit rating.

not to mention having your phone stolen would also be like handing over cash!

Fraud is rampant in our country but it seems that every time someone reports a story such as this it seems to come from Fox News- they are the grim reaper IMO :)

I don't think it has anything to do with Fox news being the GRIM reaper, but more to do with the generations who think all this NEW techno stuff is the BEST thing since live birth. They have NO clue as to how it impacts the rest of us who do not care to live vicariously through the use of cyberspace satellites. Until of course they get scammed, frauded abused..then it is always someone else's fault and they will sue the stores, companies etc. instead of taking control of their private financial issues correctly.

Amen, sister. It took me the longest time to even start using a debit card. I was almost forced into it since there are lots of places that will no longer take a check. I try not to carry cash because it evaporates!

I have our banks app on our phone only in case of an emergency, so if were traveling and something goes wrong and we need to transfer funds from one account to the other we'd be able to do it fast. Other than that I do our bills and stuff at home on our secure network. It helps when hubby is in IT security he makes sure our home router is tighter than Fort Knox.

But even his phone has none been compromised, he is getting these trivia charges into the $100s so he's fighting with his phone provider to get the charges reversed. He has sent stop messages to the company that's billing him but everyday new text msgs from them. Told him he will need to change his phone number. There's always a new way they come up with to take peoples money.

I would think this could be much safer than Pay Pass and possibly even credit cards. I don't use pay pass but if I did I would probably want to check this out to see what safety precautions it has. I don't see where this story makes Fox the grim reaper though. I think they're much more balanced and truthful than the others.

H-m-m-m. I saw this ONLINE from a techie news site before FOX reported. The WWW is the place to keep up with new technologies.

LOL I'm always reminded of Diet Smith's two-way wrist radio in the Dick Tracy comic strip that seemed so outlandish. It was later updated to send pictures, if I remember correctly. :!:
