Who's watching Nascar today?

Yeah  NASCAR season starts today. So who plans to watch the race at Daytona?

I'm rooting for Tony Stewart. Who do you want to win?

Sadiemae 02-26-2012 10:08 AM

I am watching, if they don't get rained out...

jbud2 02-26-2012 10:37 AM

Does listening count?

gramajo 02-26-2012 11:08 AM

Sure it does! I'm sewing, but I'll run in to watch when it sounds exciting.

gus 02-26-2012 11:15 AM

Our Cable went out  so not me

kat112000 02-26-2012 11:32 AM

Me, when it stops raining!

carrieg 02-26-2012 11:34 AM

It's on in our house! I like Ryan Newman.

DebsShelties 02-26-2012 12:06 PM

Have QVC on here, 5 hours of In the Kitchen with David today.

Yellow Bird 02-26-2012 12:09 PM

Yes...and for me the for me the rain delay means I get to see the rerun of the race I missed earlier this week.

I'm rooting for Danica Patrick...

QuiltingKrazy 02-26-2012 12:30 PM

Well we are watching the rain delay stuff! ugh.... be glad when the sun comes out and they can get it started.
It makes for a LONG day for the crews when you get at 7am and don't even get started for about 8 hours.

gramajo 02-26-2012 03:01 PM

Darn! It was postponed until tomorrow; I have to work & VCR is broken.

Scissor Queen 02-26-2012 03:13 PM

I'll be watching tomorrow and rooting for Carl Edwards. And for Ms Patrick to hit the wall.

Ouch, why would one wish a crash for a driver. May the best driver win.

Because she's used her sex appeal to work her way into a car that could have gone to a more talented driver. She had 151 starts in IRL and won exactly 1 race. Not only that but she's an entitled, spoiled brat.

mh2559 02-26-2012 06:14 PM

My son and dil left race and met my dh and me for lunch. Tomorrow my son will go and I might join him.

Lucky you  Enjoy it. I'd be happy watching it on TV--not working :(

I fail to see the attraction in this sport, can someone explain it to me?

I fail to see the attraction in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc... so we each watch what interests us!

Sadiemae 02-27-2012 04:20 PM

2nd lap, first wreck!!!! This could be interesting!

ptquilts 02-27-2012 06:31 PM

so are the wrecks the only interesting part? To me it looks like people driving around in a circle.

With any sport, you pick your favorite & pull for them. Makes it more interesting! Used to like Jeff Gordon, now pull for Kevin Harvick who lives within 15 minutes from us.

AND if you ever go to a race, it adds to the interest. Martinsville VA raceway is 45 minutes away. We have introduced several friends to that experience.

was watching Nascar Monday night, taping Two and a Half Men, and hubby says ROADKILL COOK OFF is on.
BIZARRE FOODS AMERICA ... I said switch to it, Nascar will still be on when it is over. Hubby from WV & roadkill is not just for breakfast anymore (((( UGH

Sadiemae 02-27-2012 07:23 PM

WOW!!! The fire that Montoya started was wicked! I am so glad everyone is okay.

QuiltingJaguar 02-27-2012 07:34 PM

Its been some kind of race if they ever get it finished, accidents, car hits one of the yellow trucks and gasoline goes up, now can they finish the race with damage to the pavement? They have about 109 races in out of the 200, and watch the rains are coming back in also. Are they having too much fun with this race or what?

It has definitely been crazy!

Sunnie 02-27-2012 07:49 PM

I'm very sorry, but at 9:50 I told DH that this could be one of the fastest Daytona races ever. Then the fire. Hope I get to bed soon.

Jeff Gordon fan, but will root for any Hendrick Motors car.</SPAN>

kat112000 02-27-2012 07:51 PM

Wow what a race!!

BETTY62 02-27-2012 07:55 PM

It's on at my house and I can hear it but I'm not really watching. I really don't have a favorite.

Well, it is Tuesday morning. We didn't get to sleep until after 1:00 AM. Watched the race. Earnhardt came in second. We wanted him to win. Took a while to fall asleep and then at 4:00, Miss Bess started whining and good morning, here I am!!!!!!!! Edie

Ann L 02-28-2012 05:46 AM

That fire was amazing. I was switching back and forth, watching the race and giving updates to my husband who had to work. I am surprised it didn't do more damage to the track. glad eveyone is okay. Can't wait till Aug Bristol race!

gramajo 02-28-2012 05:55 AM

I'm so envious of all of you who were able to watch. Can anyone tell me who won & top finishers? Race ended too late for results in this am's paper. Don't know if results will be in tomorrow's paper; it doesn't give much NASCAR information. Guess they like talking about Derek Rose's back more.

wendsy 02-28-2012 07:59 AM

Wow what an ending

chickadee_42us 02-28-2012 09:43 AM

Yes, it was exciting. What a way to start the race year off. I wanted Dale Jr. to win too, 2nd is great but it is not winning.

sassymoose 02-28-2012 09:51 AM

It was a great race. Matt Kenseth won, dale Jr. was 2nd and Greg Biffle was 3rd. I was hoping Jimmie Johnson or Tony Stewart would win.

EagarBeez 02-28-2012 11:14 AM

DH and I love Nascar, we watched it, till around 10pm here and I fell asleep. DH saw the rest. I heard it was at least 2 hours to get the track cleaned enough after the Pablo Montoya's crash.

suzieQ 02-28-2012 03:20 PM

i live in daytona the roar of the engiens gets old and traffic keep an old lady in and joanns is next tothe track so the store is closed poop suzieQ

SandyFay 02-28-2012 04:56 PM

Tony Stewart is my favorite too! Yea! Go Smoke!

mythreesuns 02-28-2012 05:44 PM

Soooooooooooo happy Matt won...my home town man...knew him before he ever became famous..

katesnanna 02-28-2012 05:56 PM

We have been getting here in Brisbane too. Don't know why the TV programmers think most Aussies would be interested. I suppose the rev heads. Do you get Bathurst 1000 in the states? As you no doubt guess I'm not a fan. I just get sick of my favorite shows being yanked for sport. Happens all the time. Just venting!!!!

Sheila_H 02-28-2012 06:32 PM

I've have been working in the medical side of NASCAR for about 8 years and it is the wildest wreck (Jet Dryer) that I've ever seen. Safety measures are a wonderous thing these days it's too bad that it took losing Petty and Senior to get to the devices we have today. Oh and my driver won!!!

Nell Dwyer 02-28-2012 08:09 PM

I also yelled for Tony Stewart-long race with the fire-then had to get up early this morning with husband-UGH-glad Tony finished though-could have lost with the last caution-Great driver and look forward to Arizona race next week
