I'm diabetic and hypothyroid = "compromised immune system"..
when I am sick, I stay home - I feel too rotten to do anything else - right now I'm up for a little bit then probably back to bed...
(not the flu) "just" a cold but it has really whallowped me....

So I either got sick in Hobby Lobby or Home Depot Monday or at quilt guild Tuesday night 'cause that's the only places we went... so that means some stupid sick person was out hacking germs all around...

What part of "stay home when you are sick" don't people understand?? would they even care if someone actually passed away from their crummy germs? probably not..
grrrrrr.. I feel terrible...

wear a face mask to protect yourself.

I am sorry that you are sick!!!

I have family and friends who have immunity issues too...
We have found that as hard as we try to protect them, people can be contagous before symptoms appear.

After Christmas I had 3 of my grands staying with me...yep, one came down sick and had probably spread his little germs around GreatGrama who has immunity issues... the incubation periods can be days or a week before symptoms appear...and he had been around her 3 days before he showed the first symptom.

I guess the only way to be totally safe is to wear a mask out in public and have your company wear them while visiting... and be very careful about what you touch out in public, and practice good handwashing habits.

actually they have said repeatedly that the masks do not help prevent colds and flu...
we carry hand sanitizer in the car and ALWAYS use it after getting back in the car......

some walmarts (and others) have wipes for the buggy handles etc
I guess now that the news people have gone on to something else all those practices will fall by the wayside...

Many times you are contagious before you know you are even sick. For most contagious illnesses you can be giving it away for 24 hours before you realize you are ill. However, there are those you knowingly going public who are ill and should be at home but some don't realize.

I work in a hospital and am safer there than out in public. At least there I know if I need a mask, gown, and gloves before going into a room.

I live with Leukemia every day; and unfortunately do understand that alot of people are contageous before they realize they are sick.

Unfortunately places like Hobby Lobby and Home Depot employ mostly part time. Part time means no paid sick time. Many people who don't stay home because they are sick are people who can't afford to go those few hours with no pay. They need to be really ill before they will call in. Working those few hours with a cold could mean the difference between paying the heating bill or rent or buying groceries. It is sad.

So sorry you are not feeling well. Unfortunately, you are not alone! Those germs do not discriminate who they get. I agree that people should really stay home when they are sick, but by that time, they have already shared their wealth!

I do have to say I was sick a couple weeks age....temp and couldn't keep anything down so I called in sick. My boss gave me such a guilt trip. "You are letting down your co-workers and are you sure you are really too sick to come in. Well, I guess we will discus this when you come back. " I almost never call in sick and it's people like this that make you want to come in sick rather than be made to feel this bad. By the way, I work in a hospital.....would you want me in your loved ones room if I had a temp and was sick. I wouldn't!!!
