Wow! Thank you for sharing.

Those are two talented kids.

SouthPStitches 11-17-2012 11:06 AM

It's a little before my time, but is it the same thing or a variation on the jitterbug?

Sunnye 11-17-2012 11:48 AM

That boy has rubber knees!
That was great. Thanks.

dakotamaid 11-17-2012 12:22 PM

Yes, a slight variation. Can't believe at one time my knees could do this!!

ranger 11-17-2012 01:58 PM

Wow!! That was wonderful! Thanks.

Grandma Bonnie 11-17-2012 02:11 PM

My knees couldn't do this even way back when.

Thanks for sharing. Growing up in a small Kansas town we never wanted for something to do. As a teenager in the 50's, all we needed was a radio and we all danced. If there wasn't room in the house, we danced in the street under the street light. Life was simple and good then.

Brings back memories...

I think that young mans legs are made of rubber. They are extremely talented.

Jingle 11-17-2012 06:02 PM

Thanks so much. They are wonderful dancers. That young man is rubber from his waist to his feet.Love his white socks with his penny loafers. I love watching others dance. Remember Gene Kelly,Fred Astaire,Ginger Rodgers, etc., etc. Ballroom dancing is one of the prettiest ever. I use to love to dance, fast only. Last I danced was about 18 years ago.

momto5 11-17-2012 08:16 PM

Wow, wow, wow! Thanks for sharing...I'm really familiar with the Shag, since SC is supposed to be (or was??) the home of the dance....those kids looked great!

piepatch 11-18-2012 05:50 AM

Thanks. I loved watching it!

Glenda m 11-18-2012 06:42 AM

Loved the kids. Did you watch any of the other videos? The one with Bob Hope and James Cagney really brought memories. Don't make them like that any more. "sigh"

Grace MooreLinker 11-18-2012 06:46 AM

my legs/feet won't move that way anymore. used to love to dance still would if I could. Old age does have some disadvantages. love the video.

corklass44 11-18-2012 06:46 AM

I was never that good and I danced a lot!

corklass44 11-18-2012 06:57 AM

Have any of you seen this one?

How refreshing to see two young people really enjoying their dancing. So much better than the stories we hear about students fighting to be able to do the "grind" or whatever they call that dance that looks like they are having sex on the dance floor!

JANICE E. 11-18-2012 07:57 AM

Thanks for video really enjoyed it

Caswews 11-18-2012 09:44 AM

thanks for sharing !

oldtnquiltinglady 11-18-2012 06:10 PM

That was wonderful. Thanks. I had heard the kids mention this video, but am not one to try to watch UTube; so figured I would just miss it. That was great--I can remember having that much fun on the dance floor when I was WAY younger than I am now. Maybe they'll look back someday on this as fondly.....

Kitsie 11-18-2012 06:53 PM

For once it is the guy that I couldn't stop watching and the girl helped show him off! Thanks so much!!

nstitches4u 11-18-2012 07:57 PM

Wow! These kids are really talented.

penski 11-18-2012 11:26 PM

marymay 11-19-2012 05:02 AM

Watched this one then spent a hour watching all of them. Wow Thank you

karenpatrick 11-19-2012 06:17 AM

I seem to remember this dance in the far distant past. It reminds me of "American Bandstand." I used to stand in front of my TV and try to learn all the dances by watching the show. We had a large public pool in our little town and that a dance floor with a juke box and all the latest records. All the kids of all ages hung out there all summer. Our parents could buy us a season ticket for $20 for the whole summer. We were safe and it was in walking distance from my house. We girls would put our nickels in the juke box and dance away - together. All the dances that we learned on "American Bandstand'. What fun. This really brought back memories. Thanks for sharing.

damaquilts 11-19-2012 06:26 AM

Does that child have any bones in his legs? Very talented kids! I wish I could dance like that. My daughter and I were going to take swing lessons after I finished school but I had to have surgery and that went out the window. It just looks like so much fun!

CAS49OR 11-19-2012 02:20 PM

Wow, that kid is smooooooooooooth! Makes me want to get up and dance. I always wanted to learn to jitterbug.

Thanks for sharing, I really loved this video!

sewingsuz 11-19-2012 03:44 PM

Wow , It is just almost the jitterbug that I did in 1956, 57, 58. I am old.

MimiBug123 11-19-2012 06:58 PM

Love shag dancing. That's always part of our beach festival down here! Those kids have more rythm in their little fingers than I have in my whole old body!

caspharm 11-19-2012 07:28 PM

That was a great video. Thanks for sharing.

wordpaintervs 11-19-2012 07:55 PM

jeanharville 11-19-2012 09:33 PM

When Mother and Daddy danced it in the early '40s, it was the Jitterbug, when my boyfriend (aka dh) and I danced it in the late '50s early 60's, it was the Swing. When did it become known as the Shag? I've been out of the dance loop for a long time. Thanks for posting both links. So much fun to watch.

Pam H 11-20-2012 10:30 PM

Wow! Was that ever fun!

wordpaintervs 11-22-2012 08:00 PM

sure brought back memories to me. This 72 year old body wanted to get up and dance with those kids. giggling
