Wine Corks

We celebrated our Christmas this past Sunday so I have some time to myself. Yay! I'm still cleaning up and taking dishes and glasses downstairs. There were some empty bottles of wine, which means I have some more wine corks! I went to put them where I've been storing them and was floored to see how many I have!! I've been saving them for a while with no particular idea of what to do with them. Well the time has come to either use them in something or toss them out! But I have NO idea what to do with them. I know quilters enjoy a glass of wine now and then, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for me.

I have seen them put together to form heat proof hot pads. I have also seen then put onto wreaths and decorated with artificial grapes. If you google using wine corks for crafts you will probably get lots of ideas.

go to pinterest and you'll find lots of ideas ..... If you can't use them, there are lots of people who would make good use of them. I wish I lived nearby, I could certainly use more. :)

I think I have about 15 corks up on a shelf. They are from the bottles of wine we have drank in the past 10 years.

I have a trivet made from cork, glued onto an acrylic base and 4 corks cut in half and glued on for the 'feet'. I've also seen bulletin boards made from cork. Just a couple of ideas. . . .

Use them for tree trunks for mini knitted Christmas trees. I want to make some for next Christmas.

My husband has made several trivets out of corks. He's made coasters too. I've seen cork boards also. Pinterest has lots of ideas.
