And I don't wanna go

I made a trip to Joann Fabrics today to distract myself. It did help, I must admit.

Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow at 11am EST.

Piedmont Quilter 04-29-2009 09:58 AM

Been there - done that! Good luck. Hope they put you to sleep - I was awake for all 4 of mine. Have to say ~ it's not as bad as you think. Will put you in prayers!

same here, been through it, they did put me to sleep. No problems--
Will keep you in my prayers.

Work on your doll swap quilt to keep you busy today.

collettakay 04-29-2009 10:41 AM

Yes they are putting me out plus local anesthesia also.

Thanks!

kwhite 04-29-2009 10:46 AM

Do yoursef a favor and today make an ice strap that fits your face. I took a long peice of fabric and put pockets for ziplock baggies filled with ice right over where my daughters cheeks were. Then I attached on top of her head with velcro. The ones they give you do not seem to fit right. And the cherrfull colors made her a bit more happy. Good luck.

amma 04-29-2009 10:48 AM

It will all go well!! I had to have all of mine pulled and a friend of mine told me to drink a lot of pineapple juice afterward, 24+ ounces a day. It has an enzyme that helps reduce swelling. I was scheduled to have my stitches removed in 10 days, I had to go in 6 days later because my gum swelling was down to the point that my stitches were loops around my gums. I had my 3 teens try this too when they had their wisdom teeth pulled and they healed very quickly, also. :D Just make sure that you follow their orders...good reasons behind them all...you do NOT want dry socket or an infection

k3n 04-29-2009 11:16 AM

Best of luck Colletta - will be thinking of you!

Harmony 04-29-2009 11:35 AM

Do what they tell you to do. Take it easy the first day--it's not like you'll have any choice in the matter if you're getting a general aenesthetic, because you'll probably sleep all day. But the very next day get up and start doing stuff. You'll be right as rain before you know it!

Knot Sew 04-29-2009 11:44 AM

I guess I'm not wise, cause I only had one wisdom tooth, I sure am glad.My daughters don't have them either. My son is a real smarty, he had them :D Dentists scare me, but knocking you out is the way to go

Ducky 04-29-2009 11:58 AM

Best of luck to you Colletta. I send positive energy your way :D Kind of like what was said before, my experience with getting all of my wisdom teeth out went MUCH better than I imagined. May the same happen to you.

sewjoyce 04-29-2009 12:00 PM

Good luck Colletta!! Take it easy tomorrow afterwards!! Will keep you in my thoughts :!:

live2teach 04-29-2009 12:13 PM

You'll be just fine! Be sure to follow the dentist's orders, though and don't over do it! Get plenty of rest, you definitely do not want an infection! :)

BlueChicken 04-29-2009 12:32 PM

Good luck! Am thinking of you now, no idea when it's happening our time! lol :-)

I've had all four wisdom teeth out, and it was such a relief. I had mine out two weeks before my wedding! LOL My mum was highly unimpressed, but it only took a couple of days to get over and the relief was huge. You don't realise how much they affect everything till they're gone.

Take care of yourself, :-)

barnbum 04-29-2009 01:26 PM

You'll be fine! Sounds worse than it is. Just no drinking from a straw!! My kids have had some out--neither swelled... take it easy.

Tink's Mom 04-29-2009 01:40 PM

It's not too bad...Just don't try eating the wrong kind of foods...+ no straws.
Look at it this way. You get to have a hot fudge sundae and it IS on the diet this week!

I always find that having a bag of frozen Peas works quite well as an ice pack. We have a bag of generic peas in the freezer that we all know is only as an icepack, not for eating...

Chele 04-29-2009 01:42 PM

Good luck! It's a piece of cake! I was at the beach eating Doritos the next day. Actually, I was dissolving Doritos in my mouth! Chewing was a couple of days away! Just take it easy and follow the post-op instructions.

sewhappy57 04-29-2009 01:46 PM

Oh Colletta I'm so sorry, I was lucky enough to not have wisdom teeth. Plan on getting rest after words and stock up on popcicles. My thoughts are with ya girl.

bearpaw 04-29-2009 02:46 PM

Good luck! I'm sure you'll be ok. :D

jette 04-29-2009 02:54 PM

Best of luck Colletta

Shemjo 04-29-2009 02:54 PM

Prayers for a successful procedure and happy speedy recovery. Stay away from straws to prevent dry socket.

Maribeth 04-29-2009 03:26 PM

Sounds like a good time for ice cream. Good Luck, rest up, and Take Care, Maribeth

sandpat 04-29-2009 04:26 PM

Been there..done that...you'll be just fine. Sore for a few days...yes, but you'll live and you'll be just great. Enjoy the ice cream!

Overlander 04-29-2009 04:53 PM

Hi Collette - I just had teeth pulled with just freezing, stitched and a partial plate put in 3 weeks ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was pretty scared. Ask for detailed instructions and if you don't understand something they read or give you let them know. It is so important to know exactly what to do. Sleep as much as you can and lots of fluids. I'm sure everything will go well for you. :)

fluffbug95 04-29-2009 06:04 PM

Glad to be of help, fluff. What kind of school work and how old are you? I've had 2 c-sections and my appendix out so its not a first for me. But its never pleasant.

littlehud 04-29-2009 06:54 PM

I will be praying for you. Just listen to everything they tell you to do. You'll be fine.

collettakay 04-30-2009 12:39 PM

Hi all! Everythin went well. I've been in bed since I got home. I'm up on a med and potty break and just wanted to let you all know.

When I woke up I could finally feel my tongue enough to eat something. and that something was.......................a reese cup.

Back to Bed.

Ducky 04-30-2009 12:42 PM

Heal fast!

Kyiav10 04-30-2009 12:48 PM

DON"T DRINK FROM A STRAW!!!

Kyia

littlehud 04-30-2009 01:19 PM

Thank you for letting us know. Glad all is well. Follow your instructions and all will be well. Take care.

Piedmont Quilter 04-30-2009 02:33 PM

Glad all went well. Don't feel guilty about the reese cup. Eat what you can stand. I lived off of potatoe wedges and little debbies when mine were done :D :D

sandpat 04-30-2009 03:33 PM

So glad that all went well...just relax tomorrow and through the weekend..you'll be good to go on Monday   (fingers crossed that I'm right! )

leona07 04-30-2009 03:33 PM

I am glad to hear you are doing well.

Most people have no problems and are all better in a couple days!! NO STRAWS!!!! Ice your face if you need to, to keep the swelling down. I had a terrible time after having mine done but it was special circumstances anyhow, not your run of the mill wisdom teeth extractions. I won't post the details but it looked like I was smuggling grapefruits in my cheeks and the bruising made me look like I was jaundice!! The pain wasn't too bad, thanks to those lovely meds they gave me!!

Get plenty of rest!!! Best Wishes!!

beachlady 04-30-2009 03:44 PM

Hope you heal quickly. Let every one wait on you!

2 Doods 04-30-2009 03:55 PM

Been there - done that.! I had mine done in high school and lost 10 pounds. Hmmm...now that I actually NEED to loose the weight maybe I should....well guess that won't work since they took all 4.

Oh! and the kids all called me "Chipper" 'cause my cheeks were so swollen. Kids are so "kind"....

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you well

bearisgray 05-01-2009 05:05 AM

Why no straws?

I am doing the main school stuff with Spanish. It really helped distracting myself! Lol. :D
