A wonder Sunday

My 2 DGD are here for the weekend and they asked if I would show them how to quilt so we spent the afternoon going through patterns and working on small projects they could take hope. I felt like I was in heaven!

That is so cool! I would have loved to have my grandmother sew with me. The mother of my best friend taught us to sew and then my mother taught me how to use her machine. My mom did teach me to do some embroidery. My grandmother could not understand why anyone would cut up fabric only to sew it back together again for fun.

Lucky lady - I love it when the grandkids come to play - we have such a good time. Making those memories is priceless.

Many years ago, my young grandson was here and of course, my sewing machine is always in view, and he asked if he could learn to sew. So, I took him to the "stash" and he picked out a solid red and a solid white and I thought he ought to start on a pillow. He was into 4-H at the time and was buying pig feed and cow feed at the local Purina Feed Store. So, he wanted to make the pillow using the red and white check pattern logo of Purina - which by the way, is a 9-patch!!! We cut big squares and he sewed they together, surprisingly accurately. We stuffed it and he sewed the opening close. His mom helped him enter it into the local county fair and it won first place!

My grandma was an excellent cook. One sister did crochet and knitting. One did sewing clothes and gran did cooking.

As a child as well as cutting up fish peeling potatoes but no way I was not having anything to do with wormy peas for the chip shop. Oh my great grandma taught me to read.
