Wonderful news for me!

I have been very good...My kids told me to wait until they told me I could tell...so, I just got the go ahead about an hour ago....I'm going to be a GRANDMA!!!! DDIL is high risk and didn't want to tell the world until after her 1st trimester...
This is going to be our first grandchild! Spoiling and loving will be such fun...
I have tried so hard not to slip and announce it here...but now I can shout it out! Woo Hoo!!!
Plus, you know what this means, don't you? Tink is going to be an Auntie!!! Her big brother (my son) is going to be the daddy...

Mad Mimm 01-11-2012 01:33 PM

ChaiQuilter 01-11-2012 07:16 PM

That's fantastic news!!

Jingle 01-11-2012 07:25 PM

I hope she has no problems anywhere along the way. You are going to fall in love as you have never fallen before. Our first Grandchild was a girl, now 25, it was love at first sight, she has always been the apple of my eye and still is. All 7 of my Grands are very special to me but, just something about the first, a touch more special. Enjoy.

Grandma Peg 01-11-2012 07:33 PM

Congratulations Susie, there is nothing better than being a grandma! Now you have to start planning a quilt(s).

Nanamoms 01-12-2012 02:40 AM

Congrats! The feeling of being a grandmother for the first time is indescribable! There IS something special about that first one even though you will adore any further DGBs. My first is 21, almost 22, and he's still my baby. He allows me to call him that but my DGD won't let me for some reason. She's 16 going on 17!!

Keep us posted on your DDIL's progress and hopefully things will go smoothly!!

JenniePenny 01-12-2012 02:50 AM

Congratulations! What happy news.

Scakes 01-12-2012 03:45 AM

GingerK 01-12-2012 04:50 AM

I am so happy for you! Our DD's second pregnancy was high risk, but thankfully, the baby and mummy are doing well. I will be sending strong positive healthy-baby thoughts in your family's direction. You know what else this means??? You have to make a baby quilt!

funcupl 01-12-2012 08:30 AM

I know exactly how you feel....I just recently too found out we are going to be Grandparents again...our oldest son (who's been married for 10 years without children) has announced they are expecting in June. We never thought after this time that it would happen....so CONGRATS to you all....its wonderful!
Claudia

So happy for this news for you & for your DS & DDIL! I too know how hard it is to keep such exciting news under my hat! Last year, our DD & hubby were finally able to conceive after 4 years of trying. She gave birth to a wonderful delightful little boy on Oct. 19. Last year was full of many ups & downs for our family, and this was definitely one of the best UPS! Enjoy that baby when he/she gets here and pray non stop in the mean time. <3

lillybeck 01-13-2012 06:17 AM

This is great news.I will pray everything goes well. Each one is just as exciting as the first. Our 26th is due in April and I am excited. It is a boy and out of all those GKs there are only 4 boys.

Caswews 01-13-2012 06:25 AM

Oh congratulations- its something special to be grandma and spoil em rotten. I have 3 and spoil em equally rotten but separately- each knows I love them very much, but treated each as a separate little person with individuals. Each get separate items if I make the same for example a quilt each are treated to their favorite color, carton character etc... Best part was I got to hold them right after birth, and snuggle them; told em while I had em in my arms that I was gonna spoil em rotten, then gave em back to mom !LOL

nursie76 01-13-2012 06:28 AM

Oh Susie! I am sooooo happy for you! Being a grandma is totally awesome (or a Meme in my case lol). Thanks for sharing. (Oh, you did good keeping it hush, hush for so long...)

I know just how you fill, the first one is always soooo very special, and Jingle is right, you fall so in love with them till it hurts. My first was a grandson, and he is now twelve and we are still joined at the hip, i have taken care of him for most of his life, now my son has two sons and i take care of them also, i didn't think it could get any better, i found out last grandparents day my son and his wife are expecting baby number 3, and guess what, after four grandsons, i will have a little granddaughter, i am truly blessed. Boy will she be a little stinker, i will spoil her rotten, like her brothers before her and her two cousins. I wish your DDIL all the best, and she will be in my prayers.
Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations, from one grandmother to another, time to make some baby quilts.

Tink's Mom 01-13-2012 07:43 PM

A small update...My Mom and Dad are very excited about this new little one...Mom tells me yesterday that she and Dad think they will volunteer to babysit for 1 or 2 days a week...My Dad is the Bionic Man with all his replacement parts...and Mom has COPD and not in good health at all. Plus they are 80 years old.
In order to not hurt their feelings, I said that with my Fibromyalgia and Reumatoid Arthritis that it might take all three of us to baby sit. So, they are now thinking that this is a wonderful idea...all of us babysitting at the same time. Kinda, tag team babysitting. They are soooo funny!

BarbaraSue 01-13-2012 07:43 PM

Congratulations! it is such a joy to have the grandkids. Your life and loves will never be the same. Enjoy!

Tinks's mom, my granddaughter was named after my mother. And any time she has visited MeeMaw Maxine, my mother wanted the crib in her room so she could take care of her. Mom turned 84 this year. My DGD will be 4 in Feb. Let them do what they can. The memories will last a lifetime.
