My three children just walked out the door, it's the first day of school here in S.C. A full day of quiet sewing time is my plan!

I taught for 30 yrs. in PA. Our schools never start until after Labor Day. And, we go longer in June to make up for snow days. When do your kids finish in June?

We start after Labor day here in WI, too, I think because of the tourist trade up here!

Last day of school is June 3rd here. We moved here from New Hampshire five years ago. At that time school started the first week of August. The governor decided the state was losing out on tourist tax dollars so changed it to mid August. It still feels too early to me, but better than what it was!

We moved from Iowa (June 7 out) to Nebraska (Aug 15 start) one year, and the kids thought they were cheated out of their summer! Ah well. :lol:

AMEN TO THAT!!!! WE had two teenage girls his and mine start school Monday the 16th, but his son is in a different school district and does't start until next Monday!! Believe me I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!! Now for a school for husbands, all day!!! Then I could be alone for a little while! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :D :thumbup: :XD:

I am very jealous, I have to wait unti September 7 & 9 for mine to go back. Lucky you!!!!

my kids started school aug 9th ...i have yet to get anything done lol

I just took my son for his first day today going to the sewing room soon to try a 3D pinwheel

This is my first year not going back to school. I just retired after 38 years of teaching elementary school. I am a little sad, but I will find something interesting and fun to do when school starts here in September.

We go back to school the day after Labor Day here. I drive the little "Darlings". I have enjoyed my summer off. Dread first day.

School started Aug. 16 here. My son has a school permit so he could drive himself to school. My baby is driving.....

5 of my kids went back to school today! WOOOO HOOOO! Oldest son is 24 and home with his girlfriend. DH took the day off. I'm still not alone! On the bright side, I did get to walk to the bus stop with my DGS for his first day of kindergarten. Oh boy! he got to ride a bus! He guesses school will be fun too.

As for when school ends...May!

School starts here the 26th and will get out the end of May
I've only got 3 more years of school to get through my youngest one is a Sophomore this year.
She's been gone most of the summer doing one thing after another including a 6 week program where she spent the time at a local college campus. So I've barely seen her all summer.

DGD started yesterday. It was so quiet here. I cleaned house. Tomorrow I sew. :thumbup:

Well I start school on August 30, It is my last semester and boy am I glas, but I have 7 classes and I'm sure I am going to be so overwhelmed with homework that I probably won't be able to do anything but study. But on Dec 17 I will have an Associates in Accounting, Business Management and Marketing!! Hoooray, 2 1/2 years in the making!!!

NM...started this week and out Friday before Memorial Day in May. Last year of teaching I started on my birthday...Aug 10. Now that was a double bummer.

The teachers in the family (me, included) go back on the 30th and 31st for workshops and the kids start with us on the 1st. DS moves into college on the 29th and he also starts on the 1st. Then...we'll have our empty nest.

My grandkids have been in school since the last part of July. Their school is one that they go for 45 days and off for 15 year around, but have almost two months off in the summer. The first grader told me the other day that when your in first grade you don't get a snack or milk, so she is really hungry when she gets home. But she is always hungry, half hour after dinner she wants something to eat and that's after eating all of her dinner.

I started back to school on Monday the 16th, I'm a teacher. I actually had been putting in about 4-5 hours the entire week before. School started here on the 18th (we get out the last of May). I've worked 3 ten-hour days so far and come home and fall in bed!

Back to school means way less quilting for me....boo hoo! :cry:

My girls will start school on Monday, August 23rd. They do virtual school. My youngest daughter is excited about being in the 2nd grade and ready to start. School ends here the first week of June.
