Ok, for those of you who are wondering WHEN we are leaving this pebble....well it looks like sometime mid to end of April.
Hubby has a school he has to fly away to, then will come back and by then I should have everything packed up and we should be in a hotel by then.
With the way they work it, they give us 10 days travel and 8 days "proceed". Total of 18 days to get to where we are going. Yes, flying time counts! He has a school he has to report to on May 24th. So, backing that up, puts us the beginning of May. Hubby is wanting to add a couple of weeks leave time to that so we are quite as rushed in our travels since we will be sending the van into Los Angeles, picking it up, then driving cross country to VIRGINIA!!!
I already told hubby that there ARE stops, even if it's just lunch or dinner or a cup of coffee that I have to make. Plus, he wants to see his parents (ugh!) but also I want to spend at least another week with MY babies!!
So, everyone keep EVERYTHING crossed that this stays this way, we get what we want and I'll soon be off this pebble forever!

purplemem 01-29-2010 12:22 AM

Terri,
I am so happy for you! That is wonderful news! My dh promised that if my docs will let me travel, we will visit you in the fall. I cannot wait to meet in person my Terri-angel! Congratulations on surviving the little pebble!
Hugs

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 12:26 AM

You and anyone are more than welcome to come visit anytime/anywhere I live. I will always have a place for people to stay. Might have to put a lock on my door so my stash doesn't grow legs and disappear lol

I am just sooo excited, but want to try to keep it at bay because when I do get excited, there is usually a pin right around the corner waiting to burst my bubble.

Celeste 01-29-2010 12:46 AM

I'm thrilled for you!

k3n 01-29-2010 12:49 AM

Terri I'm soooo pleased for you and will keep everything crossed that they'll be no pins to burst any bubbles! Virginia? Is that West Virginia (sorry my US geography sucks!) like in the song 'Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains..' etc Would be appropriate if it were - take me home, country roads! :D

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 12:52 AM

LOL
No, not West "by God" Virginia.
This is VIRGINIA...right underneath Washington, DC and above South Carolina. Right on the coast, 1/2 way down.

OK - East Coast right? I do know that much! And the other ie West Virginia would be...on the West coast? Duh!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 01:23 AM

lol
No, well, yes.
Virginia is EAST coast.
West Virginia is just to the west of Virginia, still close to east coast.
Are you confused yet?

Here's a map for ya

Barb M 01-29-2010 01:25 AM

Oh god Terri! You get to drive cross-country???!!! You are going to have a blast, so happy for you! :)

Hah! I'm easily confused! Thanks for the map - i think I was confusing West Virginia with Washington State and DC because one of them is east coast and one west? Does that make ANY sense at all?

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 01:30 AM

Yes Barb. This will be our 4th drive cross country. Ok, only 3d for hubby since the drive from CT to CA in 2002, it was just me and Courtney and the cats. Hubby was already in HI. He flew out there 3 months earlier.
It is a great drive, I now have a Tom-Tom to help, plus I have this REALLY COOL atlas that I take everywhere with me.
It will be a rushed trip, since I KNOW we won't get the extra time we are wanting, but as long as we are off the pebble, NEVER to come back, I'll be happy.

barnbum 01-29-2010 02:39 AM

This IS very good news!!! :D

Quilt4u 01-29-2010 02:51 AM

Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you.

That certainly is great news! I hope all goes well with the move and the drive! PS: it's above North Carolina, don't want to confuse anyone else :) When we go camping in VA maybe we can meet up :P

varacefan 01-29-2010 04:09 AM

Even though I haven't "met" you yet on the board, I can feel your excitement! Congratulations! Virginia is an awesome place to live (I've lived here all of my life) :-)

Lockeb 01-29-2010 04:13 AM

Hi Terri..
I love that area of the US....DC is fabulous, West Virginia...and Virginia...the whole area is beauiful - great scenery...I think that Alexandria is in Virginia..if I remember the town correctly.......a beautiful place...there a hotel or restaurant there that has the origianl African Queen boat right in the lobby... and then again, I may have mixed up my town and states......it's been a long time....

Good luck!

Katrine 01-29-2010 04:44 AM

nursie76 01-29-2010 05:15 AM

Terri - I can tell that you are doing the hApPy DaNcE!!!!!!! I am so happy for you! We visit my BIL in VA frequently. He lives about 30 miles east of DC, near Fairfax. If you are anywhere near, maybe we can meet sometime and scope out the LQS's.

Thanks for sharing the good news.

LoriJ 01-29-2010 05:21 AM

YEAH!!! Virginia is a wonderful place, are you going to be in Norfolk? Only a few hours from my house and there's a really fun quilt show every February in Hampton. You'll have a blast coming across country that time of year.

Doing happy dance here, she'll be CLOSE to me. 4 hours max driving time! Woot Woot

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 05:56 AM

We will be in Little Creek/Norfolk area, so pretty much central on the east coast.

Oh, no worries Sharon. I already told hubby we ARE making a stop off to see you on our way. He says that NC is NOT on the way, but I told him it was! Told him that we drive from CA to KS, then to AL to see grandbabies. Then we cross into GA and if we are in GA, if we don't stop to see Maryellen, "the world would cease to exist as I know it". Those are HER words lol
So, after there, it's just a drive up 95 so we would HAVE to stop and see you because by then, we would be wanting a Rest Stop and that would be near you! :) :) :)

Oh, no worries! I will be doing LOTS of road trips. Gotta go see Ninnie...she has my dog! lol

peaceandjoy 01-29-2010 07:08 AM

By the time my round of IRR is going to you, you'll be settled in your new home! Maybe I'll drive south and hand deliver it, lol.

Congratulations - I know you've been waiting for this move.

Mamagus 01-29-2010 07:09 AM

Well Terri, that makes visiting all your quilting buddies a whole lot easier! You're certainly moving in the right direction for that trip to Newfoundland!

How long before you're done with the military completely?
My hubby has 40 months left to work in his hospital job... yes we are counting the months!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 07:13 AM

Peaceandjoy...you never know...I could take a trip north to pick it up. There are a couple little furry minis I need to get my paws on...ok, maybe ONE certain one, but I'll love on a few more.

Mamagus....hubby has a mandatory retirement date of March 13, 2013. Not sure how many months, but that's when he's supposed to be done. Now, could that change? Yep!

wvdek 01-29-2010 07:25 AM

Woohoo Terri, we will be neighbors.

You better start your list of LQ's in the area now and put 'em in a safe place. That needs unpacked before anything else, right?

hokieappmom 01-29-2010 07:26 AM

Congratulations and I'll keep my fingers crossed. Where in Virginia? I'm not far from the Virginia - North Carolina line. Have a safe trip!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 07:33 AM

Hubby will be at Little Creek, VA.
Will just be a hop, skip and a jump to some of you.
I see TONS of road trips happening!

Joan 01-29-2010 08:13 AM

Terri, I am just so happy for you.

Now, Virginia is close to the babies I hope. I can't remember where they are and I know you've told us.

Just think, you'll actually see "fall" this year!

(wish we were close enough to help you pack up!)
