I sure am. I used to never cry in front of anyone. But I guess the older I get (I'm not so old yet.), I'm finding I'll cry at any old thing. And I'll cry over any old emotion, happy or sad. AND I LIKE IT!

Yesterday, I went to the card store and ended up crying while reading all the cards. An adolescent girl happened to walk down that isle and gave me a strange look. In my earlier days, it would have embarrassed me. But yesterday it struck me as really funny, which just made me cry even more.

auntpiggylpn 07-11-2011 08:16 PM

I cry over all the little things now. I used to feel like I had to be stoic and maintain face but now I know that crying isn't a sign of weakness, it is human.

ontheriver 07-11-2011 08:20 PM

I do cry over sad things and tear jerker movies but mostly I cry when I am extremely mad. My family knows if they made me cry they better watch out.

moonwork42029 07-11-2011 08:29 PM

I cry when they play the Star Spangled Banner and there are people in uniforms around...guaranteed to see me with Kleenex and sobbing...tearing up now just thinking of it.

"Remember the Titans"....I know which scenes to leave the room for or I'm boo hooing every single time...now I see my DH tears up too.

Movies -- funny or sad, tales and stories, hearing my kids on the phone say they love us (youngest is 26)and other simple things seem to mean so much more to me now than they did a few years ago.

I try to get away and just say my eyes are leaking but who am I kidding? I am now considered a crier and that's okay with me.

auntpiggylpn 07-11-2011 08:33 PM

My favorite movie "Steel Magnolias" has me crying from the opening scene I cry at a lot of commercials too. . .

jaciqltznok 07-11-2011 08:33 PM

it is a hormonal imbalance..I used to it all the time...now, not so much..though some days...movies really get me...

np3 07-11-2011 08:34 PM

auntpiggylpn 07-11-2011 08:34 PM

Well, I am Peri-menapausal . . .

AMEN!!!!

4EVERquilt 07-11-2011 08:39 PM

Has nothing to do with hormones, mayb you might cry a little more if your hormones are imbalanced. Crying is a normal part of life, if you don't cry then something is wrong. Tears are pearls from the heart. Someone once told me that and I will never forget it!!

I was told it is also a sign of depression..so who knows..we cry...good for us...I was told it cleanses the soul!

auntpiggylpn 07-11-2011 08:50 PM

Crying is good for the soul! Who doesn't feel better after a good cry and a short nap?

charismah 07-11-2011 08:56 PM

I am a crier for sure! Happy, sad....angry. It is a good cleanse..sometimes you just need a good cry to get it all out! No issues with anyone seeing me cry what-so-ever!

4EVERquilt 07-11-2011 09:00 PM

It does cleanse the soul, happy are those who cry!

earthwalker 07-11-2011 09:13 PM

Not so much, I am a very calm person, but I have softened up a lot with age, I think I smile more. My husband is the crier...he is very up front with his emotions...happy, sad, angry all done at volume with lots of arm waving. Tough, sturdy Sicilian who has a big heart:)

auntpiggylpn 07-11-2011 09:14 PM

My dad was a crier. It always killed me to see him cry. Not that I thought he was weak, just that he was that much of a softie and something must have touched him tremendously. . .

Connie in CO 07-11-2011 09:17 PM

Once when my daughter called, that's all it took.

babyfireo4 07-11-2011 09:17 PM

Very rarely do I cry. Actually, I can count on one hand the times I have cried since I escaped puberty! I'm more of the bottle it up til you can't take anymore type (really bad for you I know). Wish I could be a bit more of a crier not only is it healthier, it seems to help people stay happier and more relaxed.

jean1941 07-11-2011 09:29 PM

I did cry for years and now it gives me a headache (only when I cry a lot so most of my tears are little pearl drops and after the loss of 2 son, a husband of 41 years and my parents I am about cried out.

Painiacs 07-11-2011 10:58 PM

I don't know why but I hate ppl to see me cry! Worse after oprah spoke about the ugly cry!! I'm weird I guess!

wanda lou 07-11-2011 11:21 PM

yep all the time.

sandy14 07-12-2011 01:37 AM

One movie that I just love, love, love and cry every time I watch it is "When a Man Loves a Woman". Meg Ryan and the handsome husband (can't think if his name). I must have watched it a dozen times and I sob!!!!!!

It is very healthy to cry and I am not embarassed by it at all. And I taught my sons, it is just fine to cry. Some parents say, "your a boy and boys don't cry". That is just wrong!!!! They are human too!!!

Thanks for sharing.

ptquilts 07-12-2011 02:24 AM

I cry at movies, parades, or when I see someone upset in real life or on TV (like news), among other things. Also the last scene in the opera, "La Boheme", where Mimi has just died. Just hearing the music, I burst into tears.
I guess I would be no good in a medical profession, I tend to relate too much to others' pain.

mrspete 07-12-2011 02:29 AM

I'm a quandry of emotions ALL THE TIME. News items that insense my ethical side, touching movies and commercials and children's precious stories, oh yes, memories. My ex husband would say, "oh gosh someone popped a knuckle...there she goes!" But, I'm a very caring person and I hope never to be dry eyed and sombre to the human need around me. I just could not be hard hearted. My crying is an ugly site, so look away, it's flowing freely.

from a happy hearted soul !!!

emerald46 07-12-2011 02:59 AM

I've always been a crier. It bothered me when I was younger but at some point you just accept it is who you are. My Aunt gave me this little quote a long time ago..."There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.” by Washington Irving

Me, too. But, it isn't a good thing at work...if you are the boss.

Connie 07-12-2011 03:06 AM

I have found the older I get the more emotional crying I seem to do. If I get mad I cry and you can see people running for their life.

DeeBooper 07-12-2011 03:14 AM

I don't cry often enough. I think it would help if I let it out! The last time I cried was over 23 years ago after my divorce and I guess that used up most of my tears...LOL

Darlene 07-12-2011 03:33 AM

Not anymore but the Speaker of the House cries all the time so I guess it's okay for you too.

Glassquilt 07-12-2011 03:37 AM

I cry.

smagruder 07-12-2011 03:39 AM

Yes, I am a crier. When my son was at the Air Force Academy and we were there for parents weekend, we had a little time to use while waiting for our son to meet up with us. We were walking on the area where a lot of planes were and there were plaques on each model.... for some reason I cried the whole time. My husband never said a word. I was so overcome with emotion that I just simply cried. Today, I still tear up at all kinds of things... Military gets me really bad.

earlylace 07-12-2011 03:42 AM

did you do anything to help the imbalance? my SIL has the same problem.

Crier? Who me? Oh..yes. Box of tissues by the computer.

cindit 07-12-2011 04:22 AM

I cry when I worship at church, when I think of my dad and mom, who are in heaven, when I think of my children and grandchildren, when I sing the national anthem and we honor those in the Armed Services, at sappy commercials and Andy Griffith shows. I'm just glad I feel so deeply!!

WOW! What a gem!

SparkMonkey 07-12-2011 04:50 AM

I tend to cry over powerful images, whether in photos, movies or books. Secretariat's Belmont (go look it up on YouTube) will get me every.single.time. That was athletic perfection and a one-in-a-billion race. Even just thinking about it chokes me up. I cry about eight times through the course of Forrest Gump, especially when Jenny goes running across the Washington Monument reflecting pool during the Vietnam rally. There's a movie called Sweet Land that has one particular scene where a farmer is facing the loss of his farm. I actually had to stop the movie and get the cry out before I could continue.

When it comes to everyday life, however, I don't really cry that much. I'm most likely to cry when I'm frustrated, but I try really hard not to get to that point because I know I get unreasonable and snappish, and I don't like behaving that way towards people I love. I'm more likely to walk away and chill for a few minutes. Usually when I return to what I was doing (or discussing) I feel a lot better.

When I hurt myself (stubbed toe, smashed finger) I just swear a lot. ;)

libbiebean 07-12-2011 05:02 AM

I used to tell the kids I was washing my eyeballs.

yolanda 07-12-2011 05:04 AM

I cry easily before that time of the month ... and also for sad reasons of course...

LindaR 07-12-2011 05:09 AM

I cry privately at sad things in novels, movies, someones illness..etc...Ithink it comes with age LOL
