I have just purchased one. I am wondering if any one can tell me how you make longer strips if the fabric has to be cut from salvage to selvage? I also wonder what you do when the fabric has a one way design. I watched the video and read the instructions in closed.
Right now I am not sure I want to keep it, and if you enjoy yours and does it do what you expected? Right now I am thinking of returning it.
I think they should have better instructions on the DVD and do things at a slower pace then they do. Maybe it is me,I am a slow learner and learn faster by viewing than reading. Although I do both.
Right now I am wondering if I have buyers remorse?

I just purchased one also. If you go to their website you can chat with a live person I think from 10AM to 4PM central. She was very helpful. I guess they make everyone they hire make a quilt so they should be able to answer your questions or get the answer for you.

Good morning. I bought mine few months back and just started to use it heavily. I love it and it becomes really handy for a lot of things. Sometimes i am faster in rotary cutting than the accuquilt in certain dies, but a lot of times it is amazing. I love my 2 1/2 strip cutter because i love making log cabins a lot so it cuts bunches of strips in no time, not i need to get the 2 1/4 for binding and 2 other strips. I have also been collecting the applique dies and these are wonderful and big time savers.
Honestly it all depends on what you are going to use it for.

Oh and i forgot for cutting long strips you just fold the fabric

Hi Pickle. I use my accuquilt all the time to do long strips. You can cut several layers at a time. Fold your fabric selvage to selvage and fold again toward the selvage before placing on the cutter. I'm wondering if you are trying to work with several yards of fabric without cutting it into smaller lengths?

I love mine.. I havent used it for cutting strips yet-although i have the dies- i forget I got them, and use my rotary cutter.. whoops ..lol.. However, I use my go mainly for leftover scraps- Im a scrappy kinda gal.. what ever scrap size I have I find a die to match.. then in goes in its sterilte see thru container for whenever I need to use it..
Each die cutout has its own drawer in a three tier/drawer container.. Ive got lot of them..so when a pattern calls for 6.5 squares I pull out that drawer... Works great for me.

That is what I don't understand if you have to cut your fabric into smaller lengths why not cut it all by hand. Then if you cut selvage to selvage like on their demo there is a tree pattern and ll the trees will be laying sideways in a strip???
I did got to You Tube and that is what I see just small pieces on the mat. I did not get my strip board yet so I will see what it does when I get it.I am still confused as to the cutting and if it is worth having. Woe is me.

This is what I did. Really good tutes on there. I love mine. I use it alot.
If you have designs just iron on the fusible webbing first then run it through the Accu then all you have to do is peel off the paper on the back for applique. Its great. I'm glad I bought mine. :thumbup:

I guess most like the accuracy of the cut..you can fan fold and have multiple cuts of any die.. I personally use mine for scraps.. less waste and more usable fabric.. so my pieces are already small..

the Applique is just that- those who dont want to cut them out.. I dont. not my cup of tea so i like the applique..

As for the strips,my guess- its for the convenience, but keep in mind everything has a learning curve. you may or may not master the cutting right away.. some fabrics will stretch ( use starch and less layers).. you get a few treads still that you may need to snip but thats quite normal.. that has to do with the the grain line- which the grain line is pretty important to avoid wonky, outta shape cuts.. .. this machine will only be as good as you are.. for some it takes longer to get the feel for it (me) and for some they get it right away..

I may just be old school but I just sold mine. I've had mine about 6 months and I sold last weekend along with several dies. If you do applique I could see it being easier but as far as cutting strips and blocks, by the time I cut them to fit into the roller area I could have just cut a strip. I think it says up to 7 layers at a time but when vutting long strips I had trouble getting even strips. The company suggested using paper over the fabric. I don't applique so I really don't miss mine. Nut like I said it's probably just me. Everyone seems to love them.
