Default question about ebay

When the reserve is not met on an item, what does that mean?

Thanks, just curious

The reserve price is a minimum $ amount set by the seller. For example. The bidding is started at $50 but the reserve is $100. You won't know the actual reserve amount until it has been reached. The item won't be sold unless the reserve it met.

Thanks so much. I thought it was like that, but wasn't sure.
