Default Rag Purse

A few years ago I made my daughters a rag purse with a pocket inside and a snap. This year I wanted to make them the everyday bag. Today they said they liked the bag I had made them before but would like it bigger and with a zipper. I haven't made a bag with a zipper. Does anyone have a pattern for this type of bag? I am not going to rag it this time but want to use the same pattern I had only increasing the size of it and adding a zipper.

By the way I think I used 4-4 1/2" squares with 3 across and 3 down. What would be a good size square to make it taller and wider?

it depends on them, some want a longer purse, others prefer a wider, maybe ask them.

Yes I am going to make it bigger but need to know how to put a zipper in it. Or does anyone have ideas for
another purse that has a zipper and is quick to make?

Here is one that looks fairly simple. http://warehousefabricsinc.com/blog/zip-top-tote-bag/

When I cut up a pair of jeans to make a purse, I just put the zipper into the top. I didn't think about it I just did it but did change sewing machines to a one able to handle the heavier fabric. Sewed up one side, pinned the other and sewed that side too.
