It is a horrid summer in Texas; really the whole year as far as lack of rainfall.

Fellow quilters... I've been the WORST whiner about the heat... even joking about my whining melting... But I just noticed a post on FB reminding us that we're hot, but we're not having to wear full battle gear (70+) pounds and worry about someone shooting at us or driving over an explosive device...

I was humbled... A friend whose son is at war says the daily temperature is close to 130 degrees...

no more whining for me...

I feel really ashamed of complaining about 5 days of heat when you all down south have had 50 days over 100 and are totally drying up. Up here the Missouri River is flooding all over the place and the Red River is dry. Nothing makes sense any more.

Well, if you can spare it, I would sure appreciate being able to borrow about 2-3 days worth of rain & river water. ;)

The river in our town is going down, too! Usually, too much is our problem, but not now.

I went through Lawton at 11:50 am today...I tell you what, there is NO water anywhere...some ranchers have dammed up their streams and I saw empty stock ponds...so sad...and NO green anywhere either..even trees are sad and crops...dang...pretty rough summer after a really harsh winter!
