Anyone get mice in the house? My DD's apartment is surrounded by cornfields, so with harvest and fall here, mice are trying to move into her kitchen. So SIL put some mice killer way back under stove where the kids couldn't get to it.

A few days later, early Saturday morning, granddaughter Lily (almost 4) went into Mommy's room.

"Mommy! Mommy! There's a mouse!"
Mommy, rolling over into her pillow, moaning, "Yes, I know. We're trying to get rid of it."
"No Mommy, look! There's a mouse!"
My daughter's eyes opened to find a dead mouse, held up by the tail, dangling in front of her nose.
SCREAM! "Lily, DROP IT!"

Lily dropped it, but didn't know what was wrong. "I tried to feed it some crackers, but it wouldn't eat. Why didn't the mouse want my crackers?"

Some Saturday mornings don't start out too well...

EEEEUUUUUUUWWWWWW...I might call that something worse than just a rude awakening..it would be called some type of Horrow show! I hate when those little buggers come in the house. You'd think we wouldn't have a problem with 3 cats in the house and 8 outside...but you'd be wrong.

We have probs off and on with mice too as I live by a big field and country. I have never experienced them before so it is all new to me. They can scare me half to death. Your story of the granddaughter made me chuckle. She wanted a pet.

Your story is a hoot! But, we're fighting one little one that just will not be caught, trapped, poisoned, whatever... We thought we chased it out of the kitchen and sure enough one night when I was cruisin' the board, I glanced over and there he went under the tv stand! #1 son put poison under there and we haven't seen him since. So, shhhhhh! He might hear me!

I told my daughter it's her fault for reading Lily the book, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." If you haven't read it, it goes through story depicting a boy giving a mouse a cookie, then the mouse wants a glass of milk to go with it, then wants a straw to drink the milk, etc., etc. Of course Lily thought she should feed the mouse!

Sorry but I had to laugh. :D If I had been your DD I would have had a heart attack! Your little DGD sounds adorable. Trying to share her crackers. We have a field not far from us & we feed the birds in the yard. SOOO we are blessed with packrats of all sizes. Hate them! Thank goodness they are in the yard! Just put out some D'Con this afternoon. Cannot stand to watch them.
