Default sewing machine prices

We are cleaning out the "computer room." It's the office, the library, the file room. I want to move all the furniture to the center of the room and take the wallpaper and paint the walls. But first the desk must be cleaned, the file cabinets need redded up and the shelves need to be emptied so I can paint the waills there, too.

One interesting piece of paper I found was the receipt for my Elna Carina I bought in 1985. I paid $900 for my sewing machine!! I don't remember my husband complaining at all. And he better not start. I've used this machine hard for about 28 years. Clothing, toys, curtains, costumes, tractor seat covers, and now quilts.

What an undertaking! I don't envy you. I just had to chuckle about your file cabinets needing 'redded up'. My father is from Pittsburgh and is the only other person I've heard use that term in years!

You should hang on to that machine receipt. Those were some big bucks then for a machine! Good luck with your redo.

NJQuilter - I keep looking at the receipt to see if it's been changed in some way. It's the carbon copy of a handwritten receipt, and I am real tight with my money!!

A long time ago I figured out that clothes expenses should be calculated on a "cost per wearing basis" (You can pay a lot more for jeans you live in than you can for a special occasion dress that you wear once or twice) By that kind of rule that machine is practically free by now!!!

Re: the file cabinets - does 'redded up' have anything to do with fire? Thats the only way I'm going to get mine cleaned out.

Its amazing from the 99.00 Kenmore (all it did was button holes, forward and back..and zigzag) that I purchase 30 years ago to today's prices. I was amazed about the prices of a machine when I bought the Pfaff Ambition, I still have my 2 Brother Machines and the Riccar Sewing Machine, along with my pink serger .. LOL
