I sell on here a lot, about every Saturday to be honest. I have mailed to Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand with no issues. I got an email from a lady in Canada who wanted to buy some fabric. I checked and rechecked my figures and sent her to total. She responded that she had purchased up to 10 yards of fabric and was able to ship it to Canada for $10 from a board member. I would love some info on how to do this. If anyone has some info that I am not privvy to, please share.

I live in Canada, order fabric online and have never paid that little for shipping. I think she's mistaken in her estimate unless the board member she ordered from absorbed some of the cost.

Not positive, but I think you can fit about 8yds of fabric in the priority envelopes for 11.50

I know that up to 4 pounds is allowed for the $11.50 cost in a flat rate envelope. I was going to be mailing 10 oz. of fabric and did not find a reduced rate other than the 11.50.

10 ounces to Canada First class should be $4.56

One thing for sure ... it's less for you to ship it here, than for us to send it the other way!

How do you do it? I have been to the post office only to be told that I have to use a flat rate envelope and that it cannot weigh over 4 pounds for $11.50.

It's in a regular (manilla) envelope -

First-Class Mail® International Large Envelope
Maximum Value for Contents: $400.00
Max. length 15", height 12" or thickness 3/4"

Don't check the FRE - use the envelope option underneath.

I think the max is up to 4lbs - for regular/large non-FRE envelopes - to go First Class.
After that, regardless of the packaging, it has to go via Priority (and charged accordingly), so it's not worth it, really, except for the much lighter packages.

Here are the rates to Canada:

2lbs costs ~ $9
3lbs costs ~$13

None of which, btw, explains 10 yards shipped for $10 :mrgreen:
