So glad you decided to join us Tallbald. Now you can post on your own. Wish my DH would do that. I read posts to him everyday.

My interest is in vintage and antique machines mostly, which make me happy by virtue of their complexity, machining expertise and paint schemes. I actually sew very little, but grew up with Momma sewing for Daddy, herself, my sister and me all through the 60's and 70's. She wore out two machines I remember, and had one of the first Singer Athena 2000's to hit Louisville, KY back in the very early 70's.....$900 as I recall, when a VW bug could be bought new for $2000. I remember the sights, scents and sounds of Momma crafting away, and often went to the fabric stores with her when I wasn't with Daddy at the hardware or shooting range. I used to love touching the fabrics, and stood in awe of the Coats and Clark thread cabinet. My grandfather and step grandmother together hand quilted daily when he retired from farming, so men a-quilting is normal to me also. Interestingly, on one Ruger gun owner forum a few weeks back, I posted a question asking about other hobbies members have. I shared that I love sewing machines, which brought out a lively, lengthy thread wherein many other men talked about their machines and enthusiasm for the craft!
I would not be a frequent poster, but also don't want to use up bandwidth others may need. My name on several shooting sport enthusiast forums is Tallbald, as well as on leather crafting forums. Thoughts appreciated. Don
