It is COLD outside. Like Freezing Cold. The thermometer says it is 34 degrees. And a bit foggy to boot. My husband turned the heater on last night....but what he doesn't know is I turned it OFF. LOL Shhh don't tell him. The leaves are falling off the trees and before long they will be bare. But while we can, I am definately enjoying all the Fall colors.
The trick or treaters I have noticed have been doning their costumes even though it isnt quite Halloween yet.
When I was I think 10 or 11, my parents were divorced and my real dad came and picked me and my sister up to go spend the weekend at his house with his wife and her 2 kids. My birthday is Oct 28th and we were there on that day and I can remember crying my little heart out sitting on the edge of the bathtub because I wanted to go trick or treating....my dad bless his heart says "its not halloween and no one will have candy" and so I cried even harder. My dad didn't like seeing me cry so he called a few of his neighbors and told him we were visiting and if it would be okay if he brought us kids trick or treating to their house. And they all said we could. I remember that weekend so vividly. Sadly that was the last time we ever saw our real dad as he died 2 days after Christmas from cancer that year.

It is supposed to snow here today, and the lows for the next 3 days will be, 22, 23, and 25.

Well I just hope that we ALL have a very mild Winter this year. Snow already and its not even Halloween geez. The seasons just seem to come so early any more.

It is slowly cooling off here. After all the 100+ days we have had here this Summer the 80's feel great.

It has been chilly here in the south also...i did turn my furnace on for a moment last Friday to check it out before the landlord left for weekend......I don't normally run it because of the cost....I have a small "radiator" looking electric heater that does the trick...but on the other hand how hard is it to warm a one bedroom apt ???

Your Halloween story warmed my heart...you know we do things for our children that are sometimes out of our comfort zone......but on the other hand we are creating memories...right ?

When my oldest 2 girls were little we lived in a subd on a short dead end street..only 5 houses on the street....the other mothers and I got together and planned what we would give out for Halloween....so all the children on the street just went to the 5 houses....oh how surprised my children were when they got older and learned that their peers went to stranger's homes for candy ! Sometimes it doesn't take much does it !

Sorry to hear about losing your Dad but that is a great memory you have.

It's great that you have that great memory of your dad to hold onto. It's already getting cold here and that is early for us. Last week it was in the 50's and I'm cold nature and some call me a whimp but I can't help that. Yesterday I finally found someone to get firewood for and God bless thier hearts; they brought me some after work so now I can build a fire to keep warm. I have a degenerative back disease so the cold isn't my friend even when it's pretty outside due to the rare snow we get. My job requires someone be here at all times so to stay at home due to the snow isn't something that I can do; well not without having others work longer hours to cover for me. Stay warm and keep those warm memories close to your heart.

What a thoughtful and loving dad you had. It's wonderful to have such a good last memory of being with him...
