I hate snakes enough that I would probably avoid the shelter during a tornado....yes, I know that's ridiculous and stupid and all kinds of things, but that's me. I hate snakes with a passion.

UPDATE on Snake...
I put a 12 ft. 2x4 down and sneaky snake scrambled out as soon as he realized I wasn't gonna whack him on the head...
Bottom line.... snake is gone :D

You can buy a snake repellant which has a lot of sulfur in it. I sprinkle sulfur powder at my door steps because snakes have been seen taking naps there. Hardware stores carry bags of powdered sulfur and it's a lot cheaper than the snake repellant products. Sulfur has a terrible odor, but I can manage stepping over sulfur much better than a snake.

I sprinkle it around my chicken coop area.

When I was selling my house last year I went into my Shed to see if I had stored there anything I needed to take with me. The first thing I saw was a snake, and not a little one. This thing was about 3 feet long and it may have not been too wide, but I know in my head I saw an Anaconda. I left and sold my house not knowing what was left behind. (No way Jorge was going there if I saw a snake. I am the daring one here). I haven't missed anything yet.
