Snow in SE Iowa tonight
#1
We have 16 to 18 inches of snow predicted for us. This is the most we have seen in many years. So far we have about a foot or more. I hope it is done. But we'll see by morning what it looks like!!
Thought I would share these pics of our snow as it is at 3am here.
I went to go out the front door - I did know the snow was against the door but I forgot I couldn't just open the door and go out. I pushed it open as far as I could and got about 8" of opening. I am claustrophobic and it kicked in. I thought what if we can't get out! So I had to work and work to get it open enough for me to get my arm out enough to use the broom from the side to move the snow enough to keep pushing til I eventually got it open enough for me to squeeze through,. I am not skinny! LOL
So here are the sites I wanted to show!
If you remember the Bird House I showed a few weeks ago with the snow on the roof-- I expected the bird house to be completely buried. But the wind swirled around the birdhouse and it actuallly sits completely bare of snow.
After I got out in the front yard I almost felt claustrophobic again because the snow was so deep.
Really hard to walk in.

This is my front door. The one I couldn't get out!

This is my front yard with the bird house and snow that is almost to my knees.

You can see the snow is way higher than my snow boots.

This is my alley door. The fron door faces the west in my living room and this door faces the south in the same room. You can see how high up on the storm door the snow is.

Now this is why I wanted out of the front door. I had to get a pic of this snow sculpture the wind created! Up and over my van too! I 'm not planning on going anywhere any time too soon! Sorry about the glare on the taillight there. It caught the flash apparently.

This is my beagle coming back in from the back yard. I had scooped this out some about 9 pm and it is all snowed back in again. The dogs had to jump over the worst of it and mash down paths so they could do what they were outside for. They love the snow so they didn't mind at all.
