Default Space Age Hot Water Heater

I had a new hot water heater installed yesterday that looks like a space capsule. There is a lighted panel on the front so I have a night light in the laundry room now. It also comes with a phone app so that I can stay in constant contact with it.

I never gave my old hot water heater a thought for 17 years. I hope this one lasts as long with the same amount of neglect.

I'm not worried about the thing leaking. There is the drain right next to it, and my house is on a slab with tile floors all around.

Our gas heater quit Christmas Day. We replaced with electric for the tidy sum of .....two thousand dollars! Gas would've been less, but not that much less.

When we bought this house the hot water heater was over 20 years old so we replaced it and were told the new one will last 10 - 12 years. This is the same decrease in life span of all the other new appliances we bought

good luck on longevity! Seems everything is made to not last as long--we replaced toaster (same brand) this winter that had been used for 19 yrs before starting to ail--well the new one is so cheaply made!

On the other hand, when my dishwasher was not getting the job done, despite running ok and hot water, the appliance salesman I bought it from was schocked that it lasted 16 yrs! Said they really are only made to last about 6-8 so just replace, not repair. And my electrician, when our wired in smoke detectors when haywire could not believe we were using the original--he said for safety reason replace them every 5-7 yrs. Who knew?

My washer and dryer can "talk" to me via smartphone.

When we bought this house, we replaced the old hot water heater. The plumber told me it would be good for 10 - 12 years but it's been there for 16 now and is still okay. I hope yours is as good.

That would annoy me! But then I have a car that's smarter than I am and often annoys me with its beeping because I have a low tire
